Yesterday I wore this Bencraft Parabuntal in black; very light and delicate.
Originally it had a fairly high crown with a single dent; I lowered it with a wide tear drop.

Sure, but the temperatures where you are will be, what, in the mid-70s (°F) this week? Come up to the Los Angeles area where we've seen temperatures in the 90°F-100°F range for the last several weeks and sweat for a while; I'm pretty sure your perspective will change. ;)
I live in Ohio and I'd much rather deal with 90-100° temps over our winters. I'll even take it a step further and say I'd take YOUR 90-100° temps over ours. Your climate is much drier than ours. I love summer. I've been nagging my wife to move to Arizona for a couple of years now. Although I'll admit I've never been there to witness their 120° seasons. My sister in law lives there and she said they hibernate there in the summer like we do here in the winter.

I'm probably one of the younger people here who's into classic style; this is my second post on the forum. Picked this grey Dobbs Fifth Avenue fedora up recently, trying to see what it fits well with. My go to hat is my brown Saks which I think is more versatile. Rambling aside how do y'all think my grey hat goes with the suit i'm wearing in the picture? I'm new to the forum and would love any criticism!

Gray with a dark ribbon is a classic and versatile combination. The photo is a bit on the dark side to give more of a critique.

I’m a fan of stingy brims, but maybe a hat with more brim and crown if you’re going for the Golden Era?

I'm a bit scared to go for a taller crown because of my height, (6'4") however I am a fan of wider brims. I do like how this hat fits with my tweed blazer which I plan on wearing tomorrow. I just worry how grey on grey works for the outfit, my general rule so far is: brown shoes = brown hat, black shoes = grey hat.

Also i'm planning on taking better photos soon because taking mirror selfies isn't really my thing.

I agree. Maybe he hasn't been to Chicago in January, or to Acapulco in July.
That Chicago cold is dangerous!

Temperatures here are firmly in felt-territory (and dropping further near the end of this week). Two hat day (to compensate for hatless day yesterday).

Overcast and cloudy Monday. Enjoying the festivities of life by wearing a Dalton thin ribbon OR clone.

I like the combo with that jacket. You wear your grumpyness well.

New to me Optimo Chicago. I bought it on eBay, so I don't know what model it is. I will send these pics to Tiffani. Maybe she can tell me.

It was at 58 cm, so I had to stretch it to 58.7. The color is a sage green, not as dark as it appears in the pics. I didn't think I would like the ribbon and bow from the seller's pictures, but I like it now.

I don't understand why Stefan doesn't like green hats. :)

Loving that ribbon treatment. Maybe it is not the green hats, but florescent green shirts that hurts his color blindness?:D:)

Thanks for your likes and appreciation and compliments to you all for your summer hats!

The walk was magnificent in the cool of the morning and after a few months and despite the heat today I opened two boxes of felt hats
ejeyqa.jpg

I also enjoyed it because I found a lady along the way who asked me about the panama I was wearing. She had one that was much nicer than mine, but she was fascinated by the pleated ribbon

Weather forecasters say that maybe the weekend will mark the end of the August heat, hopefully because some relief would be useful

Today's panama has been revised and corrected with a new ribbon and sweatband by Fleur of Penumbra hats

Well, way to go for the gold when you get back into a Homburg! Still love the brim stitching on the Dattero.

Hard to tell if the suit is brown or navy from the pic but either way it looks good. Don't be too rigid with the colors. The reason there are so many vintage brown and gray hats available now is simply that they go with almost anything and most guys in the golden age probably only had one hat so it had to be versatile.
Welcome to the FL and enjoy.

I can't argue about the winters; it doesn't get cold enough to snow in this part of southern California. And 10-15 years ago I would have agreed about the drier climate, but it seems to get more and more humid here every year. I've never been to Ohio, but I have been to northeastern Illinois (the Chicago area) during July, August, and September, and in recent years the summer weather there has been far more comfortable than it has here.

...I love summer. I've been nagging my wife to move to Arizona for a couple of years now. Although I'll admit I've never been there to witness their 120° seasons. My sister in law lives there and she said they hibernate there in the summer like we do here in the winter.
My wife and I have vacationed in Arizona during summer months--as far north as Flagstaff and as far south as Tombstone--and as long as it isn't "monsoon season" it's definitely a dry heat. But if you aren't used to it, 120°F is hot no matter what. And a good supply of sunscreen is a must. ;)
