One of those rare Stetson Standard Quality hats that didn't come from Geo. Eakle's place in Phila ;^) Posted with my favorite photo of all time on the occasion of what would have been my Mom's 92nd birthday. Happy birthday Mom, wherever you are.

Is it just me or do I see some of your daughter in that?

I can see why it’s your favorite picture. Very happy image!
Gorgeous dress too.

Alan, great hat and a fantastic photo. Thanks for sharing it.
That's quite a HIGH Standard, Alan! Looks like a privileged childhood. Wonderful photo. Lucky boys!

Gorgeous dress too.

Thank you for the notes, Richard, Charlie and Esther.

Esther, I think Sophie is all Massimo (her Mom) but Lily has more of my gene pool - so maybe. Those who knew my Mom knew her as a force of nature. These three relaxed smiles signal what must have been a wonderful moment. There is so much in this image I remember so well... my Mom's white robe on the white vinyl loveseat... the book jackets she made from teal and yellow wrapping paper with the book names hand written on the spine... Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary that I wore out doing homework... my Dad's model of Rodin's Hand of God behind us. The two photo albums with old family photos, including a couple from their simple wedding in 1946... and of course the ceramic boxer recalling our brindle sweetie, Hermie who was born in 1946 and lived long enough for me to know him in my first couple of years.

Puttering around the house this morning in a new (from @BobHufford what a guy!) black Dobbs 2" brim TAR. Nice felt and great condition, almost NOS. I have an identical hat to this one, except with a wider ribbon. The dating is most likely early 1960s. Not bad for a 50+ year old hat. I think I'll wear it to the theater tonight for rehearsal.

Looks great on you Mike!

Wow, I did a double take again and you’re right. I only see now that it is a robe.
If a woman can pull of a white robe and make it look like a dress that says about enough.

<smile> she was that, Esther. I know you have admired photos of her that I've posted in the past... she had a scale and presence (not unlike you) and wore clothes like she meant business. A relaxed and fully joyful moment like this was special.

Might fine hat Michael, but you're really killing it with the ties this week. This one is even better than yesterday.
Thanks Richard. I have a few nice ties. I had to go with the two hat day today as I while I was out grocery shopping I stopped at my favorite thrifts monthly half price sale. And picked up this custom tailored in Japan blazer.

Fabulous find, Mike! Don't concern yourself about that monogram unless, that is, people start saying they like your "S!"
