The shovel look is so... terrible.
Okay, I'll give it a while and then consider using my new rounding jack to change the brim.
Until today, I've never even heard of a "shovel" shape.

Classic for sure David. It is in really nice shape, I assume 1950s?
If you grow up wearing Westerns like many on here, it's not a big change. However, if you're new to hats and Westerns in particular it can be a little intimidating, especially for the larger brimmed Westerns.Okay, I'll give it a while and then consider using my new rounding jack to change the brim.

After a calm Christmas with weighting for food and drink, here we are on a gray and rainy day waiting for New Year.
Verona is almost deserted except for tourists.
Morning walk with a Carlton that was very little worn
Carlton Chapeau de luxe. Made for A. Meer Strasbourg
Nuance "Auburn" in brown felt with matching ribbon and curled brim of the same color
It came directly from the forties, it was part of my purchase in the town of Rhein
Brims are at 6.5 cm. and crown at 12.5 cm.
It is one of my beloved homburg, I'm jealous to show it
Good day to all and thank you for your appreciation last week
Have a nice day
I'm picking up here after a few days off. That is gorgeous, Harv. I think that I like this one best of Esther's hats (because I'm a sucker for heather felts). Nice peacoat too.I hope everyone had a nice Christmas!
My first Weis. A melange felt with silk taffeta ribbon.
That is lovely. Nice colour combination.VS Executive style
Cheers! David
Always good to see that one, Matt. Good luck with the cat; that's not something to look forward to.Vita-Felt homburg this fine morn'.
Unfortunately, I'm getting ready to take our beloved geriatric cat to the vet. It looks like his sojourn on Mother Earth is about at an end. And sadly, today may be the day. We shall see...
Have a wonderful Wednesday, folks.
50's Dobbs for me today.

It's a beautiful hat, Mike. Love that brim stitching.Continuing my wife's birthday celebration (its all about her you know...) by going to see Star Wars. She always selects a movie for her birthday, this one is a no brainer! A simple, comfortable look for the movie, my Brent Whip Stitch conversion from NW Hats. This hat is a great daily driver for such events. Tonight, her official family dinner celebration at our favorite Hungarian restaurant, a more formal hat will be required...

Great outfits, Eric. Stay warm!Good day folks. I decided to take the day off. Hurrah! This morning dog alk and outside chores found me wearing a Cordova cap and wool for the frigid -11f' temps. Folded my collar down for the pic.
As we get used to the temps it becomes less shocking and I dressed more moderately for a trip to the butcher shop. 1st customer today. Wearing a Gannon (moss green w/gills). Before leaving I started a small wood fire for later smoking meat use.
Then the process of home-made smoked sausage begins. Inside-outside as I monitor the meat found me wearing a dress weight Gannon (whiskey felt with charcoal trimmings and then a vtg.Stetson Stratoliner (gray).
Hats change as I keep some by the back porch and I can grab a different one when I choose. Choice is excellent.
I have tested the sausages and given them a thumbs up. I have enough to satisfy a couple months of our uses.
Best, Eric -
Looking great, Sergej. A well hatted family; how often does one see that?!Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was spent with family. We had a great time and ate lots of great food [emoji16]
It was also a very busy period. Little time to post our hats.
Here's a few quick snaps.

It's a great hound! All your hats look so freshly steamed, John!Hey all!
How could I not play on my first Whippet Wednesday?
Besides, I did promise sunlight pics, and the sun is out today.
I have to give the poor dog a rest soon.
Have a great day!

That Stetson sure handles it's new vocation as a fedora well, Matt. Thanks for all of the kind words about the unfortunate events concerning our cat, Shadow (and of course, those about my hat, too). He did make the journey to his eternal reward, yesterday. So, hopefully he is now having a wonderful time at the great scratching post in the sky.
I'm having a Thursday under a Stetson Royal DeLuxe that was converted from a homburg.
Yippee.
Have a fun day, all. View attachment 99872 View attachment 99873 View attachment 99874 View attachment 99875 View attachment 99876 View attachment 99877
