Vita-Felt homburg this fine morn'.

Unfortunately, I'm getting ready to take our beloved geriatric cat to the vet. It looks like his sojourn on Mother Earth is about at an end. And sadly, today may be the day. We shall see...

Have a wonderful Wednesday, folks.

Wonderful hat. Sorry to hear about your cat MM. My wife and I have been there too many times. Never easy.

Good day folks. I decided to take the day off. Hurrah! This morning dog alk and outside chores found me wearing a Cordova cap and wool for the frigid -11f' temps. Folded my collar down for the pic.

As we get used to the temps it becomes less shocking and I dressed more moderately for a trip to the butcher shop. 1st customer today. Wearing a Gannon (moss green w/gills). Before leaving I started a small wood fire for later smoking meat use.

Then the process of home-made smoked sausage begins. Inside-outside as I monitor the meat found me wearing a dress weight Gannon (whiskey felt with charcoal trimmings and then a vtg.Stetson Stratoliner (gray).

Hats change as I keep some by the back porch and I can grab a different one when I choose. Choice is excellent.

I have tested the sausages and given them a thumbs up. I have enough to satisfy a couple months of our uses.

Best, Eric -
Beautiful hats and some damn good looking sausages. :)

Thanks Harv.
After a calm Christmas with weighting for food and drink, here we are on a gray and rainy day waiting for New Year.
Verona is almost deserted except for tourists.
Morning walk with a Carlton that was very little worn

It came directly from the forties, it was part of my purchase in the town of Rhein

Brims are at 6.5 cm. and crown at 12.5 cm.

It is one of my beloved homburg, I'm jealous to show it
Good day to all and thank you for your appreciation last week

That's a great looking hat, Richard. The derby shape looks great on you.
WOW, What a great hat! Was the edge binding replaced? I don't recall seeing a Stetson Royal Deluxe Hommie with the binding that wide on both faces.
Thanks.

My recollection is that @bond told me that he replaced the brim binding since that was the part of the hat that was in the worst shape. I'm 94.8% certain about that.

Of course... the older I get, the worse my brain works.
Love the color on this one, it absolutely glows! Shadow is at peace now. A new kitten now?
Thanks, Mike.

No new kitty for us. We still have three of them in our zoo.

T Jones made the suggestion that rather than converting (or making crude attempts at converting) all the western hats I've been buying to fedoras, I should try wearing some of them as westerns. I know, novel idea.

First attempt is a 6X Stetson that I took some of the curl out of the brim:

Even less curl would be better to my eye. Apart from that, nice hat!!

I'm not sure. I want it to remain a western hat. I already removed LOTS of the curl. I might try it with brim even flatter at some point, but right now it's going to look "off" to me no matter what just because of the style.

I'm also thinking that if I don't warm up to it I'll trim the brim to 3" and reflange the brim into a quasi Open Road, but I want to give the whole western hat vibe a fair try before I go making irreversible modifications.

Frankly, I think it looks good on you. You might want to start with a smaller brim Western such as an Open Road just to get used to it.

Nice hat. Wicked band.
The bead pattern is snakeskin.

Awesome Jack!!

Great hat and band HJ
Thanks Harv & Richard. In seed beads the smaller the bead size the more detail & definition in patterns. This is a #15, most are made with #11 which are larger.

Classic look Jack. Impressive crease and hat band.

Wow! Very nice.
Thanks Red & D.

And thanks for all the likes!

Curl? What curl? Or was it lowering the fenders?
