Love that felt!
Thanks Bob.
Love heathers, fantastic!
Thanks, Karl.

Yeah... I love them too. Gotta find more money to spend on more of them. I wonder if someone in the human organ harvesting business will buy a kidney from a balding, overweight, middle-aged guy.
That is an extraordinarily nice looking hat.

Happy Sunday. I'm under another Adam today as I head off to mass under THE POLAR.

Ever since I have had this hat, I have been trying to find an ad for it to nail down its birthday. In the '30s and '40s Adam would sell a Hat of the Month. Each was given a name.

After years of searching, I think I finally found an ad for this one. I could find only one Hat of the Month ad offering a heathered felt hat. It was in November 1942. THE POLAR is not named but the ad mentions several color options. I suspect that THE POLAR was the green offering. I attach the ad.

Have a swell day.

Single hat day, but there were try-outs!
Borsalino misto lapis (more on this one elsewhere).

Borsalino homburg gulaela (it was the winner today).

I like them both equally; however, the brim curl on the gulaela (the light colored hat?) is exceptional. Additionally, The misto lapis looks like it would compliment your black and white herringbone coat quite well.

Dlaniger, thanks. The Misto Lapis is a new addition and I still have to get used to its shape and colour, but I think you're right about it going well with the herringbone coat.

I think you nailed that one, Matt. I always admired that one. The brim stitching is very interesting and pretty cool.

Hmm, already had a nice liver last Saturday (with Fava beans and a nice Chianti) might as well try a kidney. What's your asking price [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]

That hat goes well with anything (but a great coat doesn't hurt).
Thanks Stefan.

A couple of gorgeous hats. It would be a tough choice, but I think you made the right one.

Heathers are my fave hats today. When I grow up, I hope to be as well put together as @Michael A
Don't grow up, it's overrated.

I'll take em both. I'very never seen an overcoat in such a beautifully unusual color.
Thanks Bob. I think there was a period in the late '30s and early 40s when color was thought of as a good thing in an overcoat.

Okay, Michael, the hat is very nice, but that coat, that coat is awesome. Tell me about the coat, please.
Thanks D. The coat is a Kuppenheimer and the fabric is one they called Valgora. It's a blend of alpaca, baby mohair and wool. The union tag has a 1939 date so it was made between then and 1949. I suspect pre-war. It's a relatively loosely cut half belt.
