Thanks. It is..sorta.. I ran across a few of these horse shoe nail pins and snatched them up for some of my hats.

That's pretty neat. Could probably do something similar with cut nails too. That gave me some ideas.

Today, I am test driving a hat that I bought several years ago but have had in a box for that time for reasons I will likely detail in the Homburg Nation thread.

The felt on this (what I believe to be a '40s creation) exceeds the quality of my similar vintage Vita-Felts. I have no idea which maker Julius Garfinckel & Co. contracted for their store branded hats, but whoever it was... they did one hell of a job.

Garfinkel's was a high-end department store in DC. I remember it being quite the place, even when I grew up in the area in the '80s. For a long time, it was the parent company of Brooks Brothers. And Mr. Garfinkel, was a much admired, largely solitary but very kind-hearted man. He died in 1936 and the store collapsed into bankruptcy in 1990. A link about the store and another about Mr. Garfinkel are at the end of my post.

Another great Homburg Matt! Love the liner logo! Really an interesting daily driver! Love the edge binding color.
Happy Saturday!

It started out as a late '40s - early '50s Stetson nutria western that had some brim issues. It belonged to a friend of mine who did the conversion. He gave it to me and sent it open crown. I did the creasing and the ribbon work on it....

I'd like to do more conversions than I do now but I lack the tools and material to do more. That stuff don't come cheap!
NICE JOB!!!!

Beautiful! Love the colour of that brim binding. I hope you take it out of the box more often from now on. That hat deserves more exposure :)

It turned out great. The ribbon color is perfect. Quite a fitting use for one of these large rodents!
