Can't see the Gus crown well at all in this picture...
Because it's way too high and on top of the crown. It needs to come down a little more on the front.
Like this (maybe a bit exagerated compared to your work)

Thank you very much :)
I hope you're feeling better.
Deciding to post on FL has been really good for me. Life was, and is, weighing down on me as I spend most of my days taking care of my elderly mother, and it's easy to let go and lose onself when caring for someone else. Posting on this thread has given me an incentive to take a step back to who I used to be. And I'm grateful for the warm welcome I've received :)

Jim, what is your preferred method of shrinking the sweatband? Do you really wet the leather and place the hat over a lamp? @Frunobulax

This is only the second hat I've tried this on and it worked like a charm. My last CD I wore it on a few summer walks and sweated it up a bit.

I got the tip from Bob Roberts, but haven't had the need to do it much.

Turn the sweat out, sponge it, let it soak in for a minute, then toss it on the lampshade with the sweat turned out for ~20 min.

Not for vintage, of course!!

What Fruno said.

... I'm pushing 57 now, not 41.

Pushing it with what? A ten-year pole? I turn 57 next month and you look a decade younger.

I lost 130 pounds a few years ago, but have put about 80 back on. I'd like to drop 50 again and keep it there (I know how ... just need to do it). Where is the weight loss encouragement thread?

Check out low carb high fat diets (LCHF). You get to eat bacon and eggs lots of meat and some veggies but almost no other carbs. You can loose a lot of weight. You may or may not live longer but did I mention "bacon".

I could get down with that. I lost 90 lbs a year or so ago and have been working to keep it off.

Sorry, this is the "Buy Another Hat" thread. What you want is three threads down to the right.
