Wow, how do you guys keep up with this forum? Just got back from a dinner party and the place has filled up with loads of good looking people in amazing hats in my absence. Can't comment on all of them individually because there are just too many. And then I haven't even seen the other threads yet. I guess that's why there's a like button...

So, just a few comments

@EstherWeis - that blue hat really suits you, definitely your colour, but I am in love with the huge red one. So amazing. I want one too now!

Thanks! It does, doesn't it? It also happens to ve the perfect hat to wear on a windy day: no brim and fits like a helmet, no sudden gust is going to blow that beauty off my head. Maybe the two are linked ;)

That green hat you're wearing today really is something else, what a colour! I can't wear green, makes me look like I'm about to die, but you pull it off with so much flair. I really like the texture and the double stitching detail around the brim too.
We're all obsessed, and we're all enablers of ome another.
I spend more time on here than on Facebook.

You and your wife were impeccably turned out last night. Fantastic hat and great style for both of you. I can't even remember the last time I saw someone in black tie in this town, who wasn't performing in a choir or something of that nature at least.

Isn't that just the truth. Even at the opera everyone's in business casual nowadays. When I was younger it was still de rigeur to wear black tie to an opening night, but now the only place you still see that is at Glyndebourne. How the times have changed...

Thank you for complimenting my hat as well. And for posting some great pictures again, I already look forward to them every day.

Love the hat, looks good on you. Who made it?!

Thank you very much, it's french, by Céline Robert. Your beret today is nice as well. You've got me looking at vintage hat blocks on german ebay now. Don't worry, I don't plan on bidding against you, just looking ;)

Yes, this is what I'm talkin about! What vintage is this beauty? Old or new...

Thanks! I'd like to be able to say it has a long and interesting history, but it is 100% modern. I still like it though :)

Hey folks!
Digging the show of lids on a fine sunny Sunday.
Tosay I'm wearing my own handiwork, moe-riginal No.7 in Granite Winchester rabbit. I haven't worn it much, since shortly after I made it I got the brim wet and some dye bled from the felt through the binding in spots. I've been meaning to redo it, but after the huge pain in the butt it is to do ( especially when one can't see well ) it has just sat. Other than the spots, I think it's one of my better bindings. Perhaps it can just be "character".

My amateurish offering to the daily party.

Loving that teal Bird, mmb!
Everyone have a great rest of the day!

Sent from thin air using electricity and other wizardry.

And you call that amateurish?! I am so impressed, great work! That's some skill you've got there!

Thanks for all of the kind words about the teal Game Bird. Y'all look smashing today.

Under the Adam THE POLAR as the boy and I headed out to see a concert by the Virginia Handbell Consort. I really dug it. Gabe... not so much (he's kind of in a death metal phase - Slayer is more his style right now). But it took care of one of the performing arts attendance requirements for school. And, afterwards we listened to some Slayer on the way to the store.

Back to the hat... THE POLAR worked! When we left the house, it was 80° and sunny. When we exited the concert, 45° and a cold rain. It's a GREAT AND POWERFUL hat (but not as GREAT AND POWERFUL as Harv [or Moe], of course).

And here's a number by the Consort at the same place last year.

Have a lovely evening.

Man... That is cool that you tried your hand at making your own. Some day I'd like to try that.

It looks great. Glad that its run in with the weather didn't consign it to the shelf for eternity.

Enjoy
Thanks mmb!
You really should give a try at making a hat. At the very least it will give you a greater apprecuation of your professionally made ones, and you would be surprised at how proud of yourself you'll be at your first attempt that actually looks like a hat...:)

The last of my NorthWest Purchases. I was originally expecting this hat to be a shade of charcoal darker than what I received. Almost heather black to be exact. Then my idea was to put a black bow on top of it so it popped just a little bit from the hat color. Unfortunately that is not what I received. I also think the crown is too high which gives off a cartoonish look a la Porky Pig in a Gangster Suit. Anyway I kept it because I hate going to the Post Office.

NorthWest Hats ( lets call it carbon grey with a black bow ) Stafford JC Penney Suit ( LOVE THESE SUITS ! Best Deal In Town) Gucci EyeGlasses / Givenchy Sunglasses)

Looks like a great hat to me. Height looks good as well. As a guide, the distance from your eyes to chin is a good height for the crown of your hat.
Wear it in good health
