Vintage 40s red white and blue hat

I'd been saving this particular vintage 40s hat for just the right occasion, I wore it with my 40s pattern crocheted snood recently made for me by FL member CherryRed.

Worn today to the Memorial Day Ceremonies at the Presidio in San Francisco. Hubby Chuck and son Daniel were in their WWII uniforms participating with other uniformed members of BAWMHRS (Bay Area Womens' and Mens' Historical Representation Society). Daughter Sarah and I (both dressed vintage 40s) sat in the front row with two other ladies of the group, as representatives of women on the home front.

Hey there Metropd- Since a 34-36S won't fit AlanC, howsabout saving one for our Fred Astaire wannabe son Daniel. He's almost 13yo, and right now only has a 22" waist and a 24" chest, but he's gotta grow bigger one of these years! Matt Deckard says I need to feed him more...

JT--That is a beautiful Resistol. I had not seen one in dark blue. Looks great with the suit/shirt/tie.

Mario, still sharp!

Metro, you've got it all going; I bet folks try to kiss your ring there in Little Italy. Looking great!

our Daniel in his new USN crackerjack hat!

Whaddya know, a vintage lovin' kid makes the local newspaper! I didn't get a picture taken yesterday, but the SF Chronicle newspaper did! Here is our almost 13yo son Daniel as he participated with his fellow BAWMHRS (Bay Area Womens' and Mens' Historical Representation Society) on Memorial Day during the ceremonies at the Presidio in San Francisco.

He and I found him the white navy cap and the white gloves at a local surplus store. He's wearing them with his vintage WWII US Navy shirt with the ruptured duck patch and Petty Officer third class Gunner's Mate insignia, and vintage black pants.

I and my husband are so proud of him! This was Daniel's and my husband's first in-uniform BAWMHRS "event". All the uniformed BAWMHRS (gents and ladies) stood in front of the podium for almost two hours yesterday during the entire ceremony.

Here is the link to the article in the SF Chronicle, there is a video link to the local news story. Two other BAWMHRS (one in Spanish American War uniform, the other in WWI uniform) are seen in the clip. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?f=/c/a/2009/05/26/BALP17QR5U.DTL&o=3

Carey, that's great! You must be very proud.

Mario, yes, clarity could be better on that one - but I really like your posts. Great hats worn with the right blend of confidence, enjoyment and panache.
