Ended up a two hat day as I head out for a late evening meeting with a friend.

Wearing the green late '30s or early '40s Cavanagh edge Dobbs.

This hat troubles me... It is so soft it's like the felt was made from little baby angels' hair (I'm going to assume that they dyed the felt after the hair was cut from the baby angels because the thought of little baby angels with green hair is just way too disturbing).

Howdy folks. Haven't been motivated to snap photos of myself wearing hats lately -- a bit of a medical hurdle in the household robbed me of my enthusiasm (please direct some prayers and positive energy to my wife and I). Anyway -- back in the saddle this morning. '50's Stetson St. Regis:

Hey, can someone school me on the difference in brim size between the Stetson Whippet and the Akubra Campdraft. I'm considering biting the bullet and spending the money to get a Whippet in the Whisky color but am afraid the brim will be too small. I REALLY LOVE THAT WHISKEY COLOR. It's either the 1 Whippet or a Campdraft and FedIV

pretty sure it is 2 1/2 give or take a hair or two on the modern ones

if you are going to get a modern Whippet get the open crown Premiere Whippet .... the other ones are pretty bad

I'm wearing a mistake in judgment today. I write that because I believe that this hat is what I recall being the first hat that I ever bid for on eBay. There have been many others since.

Sometimes, I wonder if all the money I have spent on hats could have been better spent on my family or an addiction to drinking... gambling... or perhaps some new-fangled designer drug. But then I remember... NO... no... the BESTEST addiction there is IS hats. And my family loves me and knows that hats make me happy.

And then... I am at peace. [emoji6]

Knox Premier Fifth Avenue. Raw brim. Too many pictures, 'cause I dig the sunlight on the ribbon. Yes... I'm a dork.

Luv a good back bow! This one is exceptional.

as someone who has struggled with and continues to battle addiction... has had close friends die from it and family members who are at war with it today ... I did not take offense and want to personally give you my blessing to say whatever the f#$* you want on this forum :)
I totally agree with you Moon, I am in the same boat. But I don't dwell on it anymore, and did not connect my "addiction" to collecting to my more nefarious vices of the past. Hats are the best vice I could have ended up with!

Something has been gnawing at me since my post here http://www.thefedoralounge.com/index.php?posts/2166532 earlier today.

It may very well be that I am engaging in a bit of scrupulosity here, but I regret my glib treatment of addiction in my post. My family and countless others have been (and are being) scourged by various real addictions to substances and other self-destructive behaviors. And many of us have lost loved ones and friends from those addictions.

So... I just want to apologize for my tongue in cheek treatment of a very serious matter. I hope that my jackassery did not cause anyone any emotional pain.

The enjoyment I derive from collecting, and seeing you folks collect and create, such wonderful headwear are good things that I should not have equated with addictions that devastate the lives of so many.

That said...

Be kind. Be well. Have fun.

And thanks for bringing so much fun to my days.
Me too but I could stop any time I want...
