Well, I'm kicking myself over and over and over. Opened up some glue and it squirted all over. And wouldn't you know it, I got some on my hat. Not even rushing to clean it off did the trick. Anyone have any tricks to covering up catastrophes like this?

As others have said, Wess, acetone will take it out, but almost guarantee a light spot left behind. Maybe too late now, (it dries relatively quickly) but turn the hat upsidedown so that the glue is on the underside of the felt. With gravity helping to keep the glue closer to the surface (although capillary action could still draw the glue into the felt) let it dry. Then get your sandpaper (120 grit, or higher, to match the felt finish as best as possible) and hit it GENTLY, going counterclockwise, (as you would brush the felt) since the glue is on the top of the hat (clockwise on the bottom). Go slow, carefully. Good luck.

Just be glad you didn't get a spot on the toilet seat... OUCH!

You guys really do wear some spectacular lids. This working nights means I get far less time, but I can't go to bed in the morning without a quick peek at today's headwear. Over the weekend, I've contrived to wear both of the hats Esther made me, not at the same time I hasten to add. got to show off for Halloween. I have put them up on the
Hawaiian Shirts & Fedoras thread.

That's a great looking lid!

Thanks daddy0d0! I really like it! It's my first vintage and first Stetson :D I use to wear an old JJ Hat Center hat that sorta resembled a Whippet but with the thin edging around the brim. I bought it new back in 1990 just before JJ's moved to 5th Ave. I loved that hat. It no longer fits, my head got fat LOL This real Whippet is a nice replacement :D
