Some great spring lids, gentlemen (and lady)! Glad to see the weather cooperated with everyone and allowed those great straws to be brought into the sun...not to mention that extraordinary blue gray lid JtL's sporting.

As posted with pics on the new hats thread, today I completed my new ribbon experiment on the Campdraft and had a chance to walk it about. The old thin ribbon is lurking below the surface should I want to set it free again.

Nice!! That looks great!!

There's a TON of nice hats out there lately, no doubt due to the nice spring weather.

Here's my new Taupe Fawn campdraft in action after a church dinner:

Sorry, just a phone pic taken by my little sister.

Saturday to BAWMHRS annual dinner...

Here I am in front of some posters at the Alameda Naval Air Museum. The BAWMHRS (Bay Area Women's and Men's Historical Representation Society) had their annual dinner. Our family was graciously invited to this event. My hat is a vintage 40s tilt. The crepe cocktail dress, eyeglasses, gloves, clip earrings, necklace, and shoes are all vintage 40s. I had gotten my hair done that day in a vintage style specifically to work with the tilt hat.

This first pic is a better pic of my face, but cuts off the top of the poster,
the second pic is showing the top of the poster,
but with lots of reflection in my eyeglasses, waah:

Akubra this is Huston. We have a lock on the Fed V. It appears to be in a synchronous orbit around The Fedora Lounge, over.....

You are one brave, sneaky, SOB, JazZ :eusa_clap.
Thanks, CRH--I'm gonna take that as high praise!:D

And yeah, you're right...without thinking about it, what I was really trying to do was to capture what I'd really like in a Fed V: bound brim (although I'd take it a little wider still), non-dimensional brim that snaps, a wind cord (just for tradition's sake), and a wide contrasting ribbon. And silverbelly. Add to that a grey even lighter than the Moonstone and we're in business.

Let's hope Akubra and/or Hats Direct reads this. Maybe I'll just send them an e-mail with pics and suggestions to get them thinking...

Thanks, everyone, for your comments on the Campdraft ribbon exchange. I posted a business casual pic from today with it on in the New Hats thread, if you're interested in seeing whether it can dress up as well as down. Now I'd like to see what the rest of you can come up with...who's next to try creating with a Campdraft?;)

Agreed. Douglas, outstanding shirt/jacket combo, and I never would have thought of pairing them with a fedora of that color - but man, it works! Great style - in the customary Douglas pose...of course!

I really like the look of that Colony, Mr. P. Is this something that will actually be produced?

Cheers,
JtL

I don't know if it will or not; at least not in its current configuration. I was told it was there after being "demo-ed" but nothing was passed on about whether it would see production or not. Next time I'm up there, I'll ask.
