Looks like a dark green ribbon and binding, right? Very nice.

Not really. It's hard to describe. Kinda' takes on different shades all the time.

The hat is a deep, dark, purple-ish, burgundy-ish, charcoal, brown.......

The ribbon is close to black but more of a gun metal grey, I'd say. But with a somewhat iridescent quality about it.

Yeah, that'd probably work.

Y'know I really like this and my other Optimo crown Panama. But, like several other gentlemen here, my gal hates 'em. She really likes my hat wearing but not these at all.

Typical discussion about Optimos:

GENE: Hey look, I just got this new Optimo style Panama in!

NICKI: You look like a dork.

GENE: But it's in great shape and it's about seventy years old.

NICKI: I wouldn't give you a penny for it.

GENE: It's got nearly a thousand weaves per inch. It took someone months to make this...

NICKI: All that time spent so you could look like a dork.

:eusa_doh:   lol

Gene, I get that "dork" comment a lot too, but it's because I tend to wear my hats tipped back instead of level and menacing. At least that's what they say. (Maybe I really am a dork)

Well, maybe I'm a dork... ?

Since I don't know what all these wonderful hats are yet! I'm trying to learn the lingo here and some of the the models/styles, but wow, there's a lot of mens' hats here on the FL- I had no idea...

The new ones are cool, and the vintage ones are way cool. I'm probably dating myself- no one says cool anymore, right?

I think my DH looks great in his few but really nice hats. Actually "great" isn't exactly what I said, or what I asked him about, regarding his wearing the hats also for my benefit (and ultimately his too;)) - but its a G-rated group... Its okay, we're MARRIED. Let's just say his wearing a hat and his interest in the whole vintage look thing is ending up being a good thing for both of us:) Don't even get me started on my thoughts about him in his vintage authentic WWII Army Air Corp Captain's Uniform...but I digress...

HPGene, I love your Panama here! But the other day, What is a Strat hat on a Staturday thing? Forgive me for being ignorant! I'm assuming its means Strat-something-or-other model of hat. I've heard of a Scratocaster (I think/hope I remember that right), its a guitar right?

No need to date yourself...you have a WWI pilot there. HA HA. OK, this is getting wierd :D

"Cool" is cool beans with me. If ya said "rad" that would be a bit dorky to me. But what do I know...my kids (20, 23, and 26) call me "dork" when I tell them jokes...beginning to think it's the new word for "dad" :)

"Strat"...maybe HPG will correct me, but since he hasn't chimed in; Stratoliner. Here's a thread: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?p=110090#post110090

And, here, is a wish for a splendid evening to you and to one and all. Have to get my status reports done, but I keep ending up here :eusa_doh:

Same old, same old, but...

...here's something relative to the "Lucky Hat" thread.
Saturday night ( the last time I had a chance to wear a fedora ), I went to play cards,
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj290/safdkiltie/IMG_0098.jpg
so I wore my Adventurebilt. Kind of a movie crowd, so I thought they'd like the AB. Anywho, I came inside and doffed my hat, but was promptly told to leave it on as it might bring me luck.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj290/safdkiltie/IMG_0100.jpg
Sure enough, I came out like gangbusters! I was really feeling it: I knew when to hold 'em, I knew when to fold 'em, etc...
Well, the the host was not going to let this business continue. He went to his bedroom and emerged with this:

Wouldn't you know; forty-five minutes later, he had every every cent I'd come with.

Very helpful to post this for me. Another hat type to add to the ever growing list...

DH pics wearing his Lord Buckley fedora

T-A-N-G-O! DH wore one of his two (so far) vintage fedoras to Tango class last night. And the end of the class, we did some practice steps for a photo op and he wore the hat! AS we were talking about taking some pics beforehand, he actually said "Gee, but I don't have any 1920's clothes." These pics are just okay, considering they were taken with his phone. Duh me, I forgot the digital camera!

Have six good dance pics, will post them on the "What are you wearing today" thread.

Will post pics of inside leather hat band with all the info on another post.

just snagged this for our son, did I do good??

Saw this up on evilBay, seller was probably asking too much... Auction ended last night, no one else had bid on it- hopefully cuz' its a small size. I'm assuming unworn in its original box is a good thing, yes?

What are your very informed and biased opinions gents... Please look it up and let me know what you think. I value the input of the gentlemen here on FL!

Here is the auction link:
