Thought I'd play a little poker with Brian Donlevy and friends. I wore my Stetson Nutria for luck. Gotta keep my eye on Brian. He's been known to cheat.

Dave, nice one! Matches your shirt perfectly!

T jones, i like the color combination!

I'm in an oldie but a goodie, it's been well worn as you can see but I just keep reaching for it...
I should clean it up but i sort of like it a bit scruffy.

It's hare and silk grosgrain.

Esther - that's an interesting two-tone felt treatment. I'm guessing the different colors are sewn together? Can't see that well on the tiny screen on my phone.

I'm wearing an old no-name Panama today.

Yes, incrusted.
I have the other " negative" lying around.
I basically blocked 2 identical hats, and cut out the same pieces, switched them and sew it in the other one.

Job, the bigger the brim, the better they suit me.
I'm quite tall and for some weird reason it works.
Proportion wise this one has quite a low crown compared to what i normally make. But maybe that's why it works, who knows...

Nice selection yesterday, folks. Dave, I'm likin' that Panama - good looking hat!
Esther, that's a piece of felt that will make you take a second (and third) look. Very nice on the swirl pattern. Reminds of soft serve ice cream!
TJ, sorry, but for some reason, work has blocked your image source, so I'll just say I'm sure you look great.
S4C - don't often see you in a straw. That and the colorful shirt make for a nice and easy Friday.

Last night enjoying Big Band Thursday at the Riverscape Pavilion down by the Great Miami in my Adam Executive Pacesetter.

Today just felt like a CD Day, though...

Dave, great ribbon color on the PP.

Terry, awesome! Love the Nutria. Great Photoshop skills!

Esther, nice work. I like the bound brim, and the dual felt color. Nice.

Mark, that is one of my favorite panamas. The slight brim curl is great.

Fruno, that Adam is super! Love the CD, I may have to wear mine today. :p We'll see.

I was flipping through., and Renault's wonderful well used straw jumped right out. I'd talk to you at the grocery store too!!

A repeat of a recent acquisition, a collaboration between Simon James Cathcart and Barry Simonds. Denim 2-PC crown, cotton sweatband and liner. Perfect for humid days waiting in sauna-like subway stations.

Very nice Greg, Perry... and a great bit of photo editing there, TJones!

Esther, I'm enjoying seeing your handiwork. Curious about the silk ribbon. I have a few very early hats that predate the entrance of rayon on the millinery scene. The silk ribbon is very soft and supple compared to the crispier character of rayon. Is it possible to duplicate this with today's materials? Photo below from a hat made around 1905:

Mystery Milan for me today.

I was wearing it in a local hat shop and one of the men working there commented on it and asked to see it.
I explained that I had no idea of the make and asked if he had any guesses.
He said it could be a number of hat makers... But that it was most likely mid 50s .
He said after inspecting it that his best guess would be Disney/Lee or Adams but that they were indeed guesses.

Brad Bowers had mentioned possibly Disney/Lee as well

Doesn't really matter to me... I enjoy this comfortable hat very much

Esther, Fruno, Harv, Alan, Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments.

Esther, very interesting work. Very talented.

Fruno, the wider brimmed thin ribbons really work for you. The Campdraft looks great.

alan, for some reason, your Lee straw really stands out to me. I like that hat.
