Stetson Panama Brewster. Flange is so deep it looks like a shorty!

I'm wearing the same one ... and yes it is... the transition is insane... almost too much... almost
I definitely dig this hat though

the pinches are slightly too shallow for me as well so I've slowly and gently been working them in

Dave I'm loving that slice right there

This is an early Montecristi (1920s - 1930s) which arrived to me in a Kaufmann's box with an L.C. Rossen Hat Co. label where the hat had been renovated (Rossen-ized). Narrow brim, tall crown, beautifully blocked with very little taper. Much patina. This is an example of the wonderful vintage panama hats that used to show up from time to time and sell at low prices on eBay (small sizes).

I'm really starting to like those classic panamas. This is a beautiful example!

Thank you. This is the first Montecristi that I purchased some years back - I believe the oldest too. It came up just after a very similar straw that had come from Buffalo, which I missed. That one sold for $35. This was about the same.

Hoping for a nice find today on my birthday (shameless fishing for Happy Birthdays).
As always, great assortment of hats today. The old Monticristi wins IMHO.

Bob,

The crown came a little low for my tastes, so I steamed it out myself.

Thx. You did a nice job! How high was it and how high is it now and would u mind a pic of the top of the crown? The company wants to charge me $60 extra or anything 4.5 inches or more... :( Thx for the info.

It is TOO much for me. I'm keeping the brim snapped up and kicking back on my head and wearing it like a porker. YES! I agree. Pinches too shallow. And... mine has a few pinhead gaps in the weave.

Thank you everyone!
I did have a great birthday, despite not finding any treasure. It was such a nice day I had to switch hats midway through to my Panama just to stop sweating. I'm so used to mild foggy coastal summer days that a good warm one is a treat.
Joao, if I might suggest a name for the hat, how about the Encarnado Town and Country model, as it is wide enough to provide shade for a large town, or a small country! [emoji1]
