Hey Charlie, nice family portraits! Tip of the hat to everyone today.

GORGEOUS panama, Mike! Yup, today's shots were set in front of our "family gallery." Same eyes...

ON a cross-thread comment, Harv I really liked your photo of the Impala nameplate on the stratified rust. Just GREAT composition IMHO!

Resistol Cross Plains 3X beaver. Arrived in the post today. In like new condition.
Nice one, I like it.

Another hat for today: Akubra Sombrero.
Changed hats because I went to a agricultural fair. Farm machines, animals, you name it... also tasting wine and other products from the hole country. Tasted some wine from Madeira, Açores, Alentejo, Ribatejo, Douro... all available there. Red wine, white wine, green wine... even poncha from Madeira (John Galt have you ever tried that?). Jams, chorizo, "alheira de Mirandela", honey, ham...

^^this was before wine tasting...

HatsRme, I don't want to cross-pollenate this thread with too much car talk, but we have 2 1915 Big Sixes, a touring (avatar pic) and a roadster. They are big fabulous road cars with huge 36" tires and bags of torque, enough to roll @ 60+ mph all day.

To make this post legal, I lurked a long time and got hooked; I added some new hats to my modest vintage fleet (7-3/4 size is not easy to find originals). I check to see what the regulars are sporting that day and almost feel I know you guys by now. Case is going to force me to buy a Fed IV. :)

Well, WELCOME on in, Studebaker Driver!

I wear a tad larger than a 7-3/4, LO. 7-7/8 usually work for me, too, and I have (please forgive me) stretched up a 7-5/8. Yes, vintage hats our size are nearly non-existent, but on rare occasion one or two pop up, just NOT CHEAP. For daily wear I almost always wear something that can be replaced; that is, that the maker or hatter is still producing. I normally reserve my vintages for short outings or special events.

Case's Fed IV is a favorite version of mine, too. Classic look, good quality, reasonably priced...
Looking forward to seeing your growing collection!

Thanks, Charlie. I did a series of junkyard prints. It was a blast to shoot in some of the older yards around VA.

I'll bet it was a BLAST! My family was in the salvage business (fancy talk for "junkyard") for three generations. I always felt extremely fortunate as a boy to have such a playground. Automotive stuff; military surplus; industrial salvage; we had piles of it all.

Early today, began with my VS blue smoke...

Looking GREAT there yourself, Andy! Classically sweet lid, sir.

I am on my way to Cobb's Corner shortly; errands, errands. Need anything at the "Bucherie II"
