Ah yes! I like the feather in my ribbons too. I keep them in as long as possible. When I go to Resistol hats in Garland to get one of my hats steamed and cleaned they always put a new bunch of feathers in the ribbon if I ask.

Another great set of hats so far today all! Big e I have the same problem with my favorite hats. I tend to baby them but they just don't develop the character that I want that way. Hmmm

I went with a 50s Dobbs I won off of ebay earlier in the year today.

Trying on a luxurious '40s lounging robe.

Al, your photos are truly masterpieces by themselves, but the objects you find, the hats you discover, and the restaurants you visit are simply outstanding. My entire life I have been interested in vintage homes, buildings, and architectural detail. It looks like Minnesota is the place to be to find architectural objects! There's a good amount in Chicago, but many stores are highly overpriced. I'm currently looking for oak colonnades, a 8 foot oak mantle, and a dining room sideboard to put in my house. Those couple things were torn out years ago and now I'm trying to put them back where they belong.

That hat and robe combo are fantastic and go perfectly together!! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap

I am desperately gorging myself on leftover fettuccine so as to avoid the question "you spent WHAT on lunch today?" :)

Sushi in the mid-west? My, what modern times :)

Gone fishin'. :fish2:

Oh, well. [huh]

Way to go, Jeff, nice catch! Mike, we are fortunate to have access to sushi-grade fish and all manner of other fresh seafood flown in daily from both coasts and the Gulf Of Mexico. We even have a family of shrimp fisherman from the Texas Gulf Coast who drive their truck up Interstate 35 to Minnesota non-stop with fresh, Jumbo Gulf shrimp and crab every month. Have known them for nearly twenty years now...

You are too kind, Josh, thank you! I have had this '30s blue Dobbs for only a week, and it has already become one of my favorite lids.

There are some fabulous architectural salvage establishments in Chicago, but most of the ones we used to patronize in years past have gone too upscale and trendy for us, selling more and more modern reproductions, mostly to the design trade, not to mention raising prices to often absurd levels.

The Twin Cities have a surprising number of quality, architectural salvage firms for our relatively modest size, and the prices are generally very reasonable. Let me know if you need any assistance in locating the pieces you are looking for. We know the local proprietors pretty well and can ask them to keep an eye out for you.

No hat today. I have been on my back all day with a bad back. Great looking hats today everyone. The grays are great for this gray day. Snow is coming here.

Gruene Bros. Stetson No.1 Quality

Crumbly sweatband has been removed... rather enjoyable to wear this nice 80+ year old felt against the skin on a frigid day.

Pretty looking Cav Dave!

Thanks, Hatto. Nice S-RDL today

Sam - the Max looking good this morning!

Rogera - nice Dobbs, but I do prefer your wider brim hats.

Ernest - cool looking Stetson

Very nice!... one sees precious few Cavanaghs in green.

Thanks Alan. This was one of those great eBay deals: terrible photos (the Dobbs box got most of them) and poor description (the seller said it was brown!) = happy buyer.

Honestly, I don't believe anyone can wear those big old westerns the way you do!

David, great color on your Cavanagh! It works good for you.

Thanks, Manfred. The fluorescent lighting in the office brings out the green - it is rather more olive in most light.

Spezial, indeed, Steve!! That's a very cool grey. Uptown!!

+1 the Mayser is a brilliant hat, Steve!

Al, Great photos as usual! Really enjoyed seeing the lounging robes. Beautiful 30s Dobbs and Salvatore Balbi Borsalino "XX" 'Nutria' Homburg.

Jeff, Great photo too! Both look good enough to eat! :)
