A welted edge is folded over and sewn, either under or over. A felted edge, also known as the Cavanagh edge, or Mode edge is the felt fibers are folded over and reintegrated into the felt creating an edge without a seam.
Thank you for the information JLee I was wondering also... Chief

Where's my Hat... ? in Upstate NY!
Today it was my Panama from Bob, when I got home my latest acquisition arrived so I'm donning it :)
FROM a private and personal contact (Thanks Ale) comes my roll-able Borsalino soft as kitten.

Straw Adam, temps hot and muggy here. Beautiful gray Whippet Dave!

Thanks Hatto. Great Adam for you today. I believe the hot weather is heading our way so will be straw hats for me again soon.

DJH.....another winner!

Cheers, Mystic!

David: Tough to put away those felts for the Summer with hats as fine looking as your Whippet!

Thank you Al. Problem I have is I just like to wear all my hats as much as possible :)

David, the Whippet stands you great! Very very nice!
Raider, good looking Indy Hat. He fits you great!

Thanks Manfred. While I don't think the Whippets really justify the high prices they sell for these days, they are super hats.

Agree with you on Raider's Indy hat - looks really nice!

Javier, I'm glad you got the Borsalino. That one is a special hat and coming from Alejandro you know it will be good.

Really nice hats fellas, David that Whippet is spectacular.
I'm glad Alejandro contacted me, as he knew I had my eyes on his hat for sometime, the hat is super great shape and the box it sweet.

Yesterday actually, and my son is wearing his vintage Lucchese with a Fort Worth cattleman bash (it is the only Lucchese hat I've ever come across - apparently they used to make more than just boots - very nice fur felt hat - unknown vintage - 1950s at least). You must start them on thin ribbons very young!

Javier, that's a great hat! My first Borsolino is in the mail and I have very high hopes for it.

Chief-- that borso is killer-- looks great on you!
Mystic-- that's a great mallory. I almost ruined a Mallory torino derby, with the help of my wife last year... but it's doing much better now.
Javier-- all great lids, man! The Alessandria just glows. modern or vintage?
Perry-- you make me want to reconsider Adam as a brand I would purchase-- been sporting some real nice ones lately!
David-- keep cool in that gold leaf blanket on your head. ;) looks so light and classy.
Manfred-- you look great in those steel grays!

during some of life's little challenges, where else can you turn, but to a hat, a whiskey, and a nice cigar (albeit saved for way too long and the wrapper pretty much fell right off), and a camera to play with...

scorching heat and high humidity yesterday, decompressing with my Montana Peaks custom Gus hat.
