Mike: Sharp looking VS, that Steel is very nice.

Machine Ager: Atmospheric photograph! I like the ensemble.

hatophile: Your Caxton is splendid! Does it have the blue-green undertone that the picture seems to suggest?

Nice hats today!
It takes an artist to tell the difference between an undertone and an overtone!

cheers,

Well done, Torpedo. You make the switch from wide to stingy brims "at the drop of a hat" and with such ease!

Practicing for Texas I see!

Delectans,

It's actually pretty much a very light gray with bluish undertones. I was aiming for a snowy white like yours, but the pics in Ebay were a little deceiving, it looked much lighter.

However, I'm still happy with it, it's a very sturdy but soft hat, very thick felt, so it can be worn in winter despite the lighter color.

Hey Rodkins, is that a charcoal grey? Great VS (as all of them are...:p)
Hatophile, nice Caxton you have there. By sheer coincidence ( I do not hink there are many of these around) I premièred my new-to-me Caxton today, also... see next posting.
MachineAger, classic combo!
Hi Mr P., yes, I do wear a variety of widths, the few stingies I have get some loving too. I am compensating the stingy with my next hat (see below).

Caxton (of New York) Twenty today:

This one I creased with the classic 20s-30's center dent with side creases - the crown lent itself beautifully to it.

Echter Mayser: Soooooo very nice! Is it vintage? Are they still in production?

nice hats here guys!

Thanks! I think its early to mid 1960s. It actually has a totally different look from straight on. There is more taper front to back than sided to side and it has a fairly high crown considering the brim width. I am pretty sure they are no longer using this style block.

Wade, Thanks!

Color is slightly pale Oxblood/Black Cherry/Aubergine/Eggplant/Mauve with Violet/Lavender undertones.
Next to a rusty brown for contrast:
