"Up north" this weekend. We had to go to one of our favorite places, Soda Pops restaurant in Eagle River, WI. A charming little place with a restored vintage soda fountain. Great food and atmosphere. I have not met the owner but I like him already!

GREAT set of photos, Mark! I really will have to check this place out if I'm ever in the area. Nice family you got there, too!

By the way, what hat is that?

Thanks Neo! I forgot to mention that is my Glen Grey Campdraft. It was cold and raining lightly but I was snug! My daughter picked up her cap minutes before the picture was taken at a shop a few doors down. I did not get the particulars on it but it is just a cheapie. I think it looks adorable on her though. Then again I am quite biased...

Bias, schmias! I don't know her age in relation to mine, so the proper adjective eludes me. I'll just go with "captivating" :).

I was wondering if that was a Campdraft. Looks very cool and it's got a nice, solid crease :eusa_clap.

Well technically I do not have her permission to divulge nor is it proper to reveal a lady's age :) but she graduated from college in '08. I think I remember that you are in college now so that puts you pretty close in age.

I am sure she appreciates the compliment. I just emailed both ladies the link to this page so she will be reading it. ;)

I agree with Neo, the young lady looks very nice in the cap. I daresay I am closer to Dad's age than daughter, but still appreciate attractive ladies, and that includes the mother as well.

Additionally, you look great in the Campdraft, looks like an old time pose in that first photo--a man waiting for his soda.

.... new !! Especially the DP one from the early 60's as I recall. What's a southern ( or was then) pop machine doing north of the Mason-Dixon line ?
They had a soda fountain/ice cream shop with a counter like that across the street from my high school back in the 60's !! In fact it's STILL there only it's a Frozen Yogurt shop now :)

I went out for some dinner and drinks with colleagues - the choice of hat (as much as of tie) was pretty much dictated by the jacket's skinny lapels: one of my rare true stingies, a Triumph, in a velvety black called "gendarme black" (as per the label).

Laura appeared from behind the curtains for a spook - she is in very definite pre-Halloween mood...

A great look and stingy Torpedo, and your dd Laura is such a hoot! What fun and joy she must be in your life, Dad!

Thanks hatophile, I was hoping the photo would turn out that way and it did. And thanks from my ladies as well!

Monbla: yes we are getting up there darn it all. I remember a lot of them too. The owner of the restaurant collects and restores old pop machines so he probably nabbed one from Dixie and smuggled it up here for his collection.

havent problems with the strike?

No, I haven't had any problems, I had delay with my train on the way back but it was technical difficulties and not the strike.
On the other end, I don't know if I will have enough gas to finish the week... I have some difficulties on that front.

Everybody thanks for the compliments!
