A nice little [late?] 50s Mayser should be arriving from Germany in about a week and a half (will need a good clean though mind you!)

Very nice. That should clean up nicely, which is half the fun.

I believe Equadorian was one of the Byer Rolnick brands. The size tag does look like a late sixties or early seventies Resistol tag.

Thanks DD, had no idea. Never heard of "Soft Touch" either. Looks like a fun kinda hat and I may get more wear out of it on those 100+ days with that softer sweatband.

Dd, Byer Rolnick may have ended up with the company but it was started by Elias Israel in NYC in the early 1900's. There is a bit of information around TFL on the Co. I owned one of their earlier straws and wished like hell it had fit me. There is patent office info out there on them and this post by Alan. My hat is posted around here somewhere. The homburg like straw.

Checked some other of my Resistols, looks like that tag was used into the eighties also.

Mystery solved. There happened to be another logo in the hat band. It came from " The Men's Shop" of the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio. They opened in 1909 and closed in the mid 60's. I now have an idea of the age of this hat. The Gunter Hotel was remodeled and changed names a couple times since. Now the Sheraton Gunter Hotel. I like it even more now that I know it's a "Texas Supernatural".... like they say, it may not have been born in Texas, but got here as quick as it could. ;)

Greetings All:
Well....i been waiting for my granddaughter Willow’s head to get big enough for a real PopPop hat. Not some kid thing but a real hat you all would approve of. She finally hit 21” so a 63/4 outta do.
So...coming soon, only the best for my little Willow!
Be well. Bowen
Ps: now if her feet would only grow into those Bond Ostrich custom boots...right Uncle Bob?

It must be a lot of fun choosing a hat for a small noggin - so many good options!

I'm sure she will love it.

I have a little one on the way. If it's a boy I'm thinking of naming him Wyatt just to assure he is a hat wearer. Still having trouble with the girl names.

I knew the Gunter Hotel rang a bell. This photo I posted in SUTH was taken at the Gunter in 1925. Charles Goodnight seated with Gutzon Borglum-sculptor of Mount Rushmore, photographer Erwin Smith, and West Texas Cowboy Blake Alexander.
