Alright! I saw it for sale and hoped someone here would buy it. Several of us will be looking forward to your review and impressions; it sure looks like a great hat!

Thanks Brent, I Almost didn't buy it, but glad I held out a bit. My biggest pet peeve is sellers who charge almost $40 dollars to mail a hat. I sold and shipped 3 hats this last week and not one of them cost more than $12 for priority 3 day shipping ;)

He listed a Willow country gentleman on Instagram for a sale price less than retail, and i finally gave up trying to contact him. I left messages on Instagram, Facebook. . His website is kaput. So i ordered a hat from Art instead.

But, I have been admiring his work for several years now and would eventually love to own a hat from Tatton Baird.

Yeah, I see his website doesn't work either. This one is from a client not directly from the hatter himself, or so I believe.

Mystery solved. There happened to be another logo in the hat band. It came from " The Men's Shop" of the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio. They opened in 1909 and closed in the mid 60's. I now have an idea of the age of this hat. The Gunter Hotel was remodeled and changed names a couple times since. Now the Sheraton Gunter Hotel. I like it even more now that I know it's a "Texas Supernatural".... like they say, it may not have been born in Texas, but got here as quick as it could. ;)

I guess I am a sucker for a sale, as I checked out the already on sale items that were on a so called VIP Only Early bird extra 40% off sale or whatever, and ended up buying three more hats.

Here’s the first, down from $200 to around $70.
Stetson - "Remi" Hemp Braid Fedora Hat
2 1/2 inch brim, leather sweatband.

Here is the last, but not least, of the three hats I am now waiting for. This one doesn’t have a leather sweatband, but I really like the looks of this pork pie and I needed a nice stingy brim for summer nights playing with the jazz band . . .

That last phrase reminds me of an interview with Chavela Vargas, a famous singer in Mexico:

-Yes, I'm Mexican

-But Chavela, you were born in Costa Rica

-We Mexicans are born wherever the f××× we want!

I think it was Wellington who said: “just because you are born in a stable does not make you a horse”. Maybe he was Mexican too?

I'm from Wisconsin.... packers fan, cheesehead for life. Retired to Texas in 92 when I retired from the Air Force.. I love it here. ;)
I love it in Wisconsin. Too bad it is perilously cold in the winter. Still, to me it is heavenly four months per year.
I guess it's because my Mom was from there, and was a farmer's daughter, but I consider Wisconsin and people like its people to be the backbone of America.
