Thanks Jonathan! I'm sure you've been more selective with the "Plainsman" above. Looking forward to seeing you donning that Dobbs.
I'm quickly approaching my self imposed limit for hats, so yes, I'm trying to limit my purchases these days. If I actually counted I very well may have eclipsed the number, so as long as I don't count its not real, right? A brown western has been on my list for a while, though, so I made a play for this one.

Searching around here and the Internet in general hasn't yielded too much regarding a Plainsman. I found one reference from 1952 in an ad on newspapers.com, but only the OCR text since I don't have a subscription. I also searched the Miller-Stockman catalog thread and there isn't a similarly named model from another maker. I'm looking forward to seeing what exactly shows up tomorrow.

Waiting on my Bluegrass Campdraft to get here ( EU ).
Not sure about the wide brim at 2-7/8 though.
I might have to have it cut down a bit.

It’s up to you of course, but you’ll lose the brim binding if you trim it down. Try it for a couple of months in its original condition before you make any decisions that can’t be undone. Just my two cents.

Well a happy ending for my Canadian auction win of the navy blue Stetson Homburg. They would not give me a price for shipping til I paid for the auction and that engaged my 'oh durn' radar. When I said I was not paying until they put me in contact with the shipper. Shipper would not give me a firm price either only a range. I called BS as you can easily get a firm price from Canada Post with their online calculator. She finally came back with a price of $35 for postage and handling which is fair. $25 postage, $10 for addressing the box. Heck half the fun is negotiating but I doubt I get a Christmas card from them. Pics when I receive it.

We'll have to compare notes. My blue Stetson homburg is so deep I can't tell it is blue in anything less than direct sunlight.
