I like to smash my egg with a spoon, but just because the press where present I did it formally, slicing the top off with a knife.

I can feel this thread going :eek:fftopic: as we debate how to eat an egg.

:eek:fftopic: Warden, I find this English habit of smashing the top rather than always slicing it off strange... I always slice. I thought it was the only way.

Yours from the colonies,

Miss Sis.

:eek:fftopic: Well I have heard in certain places of the world, they gently tap the top of an egg with a spoon, till lots of cracks appear, then carefully remove the cracked parts of the shell piece by piece.

I say, time is to short, give it a good thump with the spoon, push the spoon in, then as you withdraw the spoon, twist it so not to get any parts of the shell on the lovely yoke.

Dinerman, I must ask... Where did you get the tommy!?
(Swell tie, by the way)
It's an airsoft gun, but in pictures it looks pretty real, esp. since the orange tip was shattered in the box.

Be careful if you take it out and about for photos and such. You might look into getting a replacement tip for when you aren't shooting period photos.

Everybody is jumpy enough as it is, there's been more than a few tragic mistakes with airsofts.

The only thing that is real vintage in this photo is the hat!! Everything else is modern.

This is not a current picture of me. It dates to my original hat-collecting days back when I was a kid - 1968 or 1969, when I was 14.

I did an oral report in 8th grade about hats: their history, how they're made, different types, etc. Besides the usual boring visual aids, my dad the pro photographer did some quick shots of me in different costumes illustrating the wide range of hat styles. (For the photographers out there: then-new Nikon F Photomic with 50mm/f1.4, Honeywell electronic flash, Tri-X, D-76, original Polycontrast paper; scanned at 100dpi from dry-mounted borderless 8x10s.) As I recall, the report went over very well, and the costume shots all got laughs.

This is my "Man About Town" look, with a stunning Stetson homburg that, alas, is now long gone - we destroyed it a few years later when using it as movie wardrobe. Anyway, here's proof that I have been a hat buff for a LONG time!

combining the "What do you look like" and "What are you wearing today" threads :)

For the record, the cougar skin (Aka Sam) is the most vintage piece in the ensemble....from the early 50s. The kilt is from the 60s.

I have a vintage WWI duck-cloth kilt cover coming for my newest vintage Miltary kilt.....pics soon.

Yup! The picture doesn't do it justice either. In person, its got this neat, otherwordly yet tasteful blue-ish green glow to the highlights.

The museum has a lot of Leyendecker works on display, but the one in the picture is my favorite.
