I'm the most hated man in the U.S. UPS driver. Need I say more!

What?? I love seeing you guys (and gals) arrive with my goodies!

The only time it's been bad is that one time nobody arrived with any goodies, but the tracking information showed it as "delivered at side door of house." Since my house doesn't have a side door...

thanks David, but this year was really difficult. Bad weather, understaffed, record last minute ordering, took a beating in the press and on the road.Oh well been with the company 37 years so I have seen and heard it all.

I'll throw in a vote of support for the UPS folks. I thought about this when I recently saw a driver during a cold snap and wondered whether I could possibly ride around in one of those trucks in subfreezing weather. I also read an article once by someone who had worked in a loading dock for them, and what pressure they're under to get everything stuffed in that is scheduled to go, especially during the Holidays. They just don't have the luxury of treating every package with the "Fragile" touch that the senders or receivers might wish. Add to that the supreme indignity of having your vocation portrayed in The King of Queens.

I can echo the "checkered past" entry...over a quarter century in the Naval Reserve as a spy. Technical writer for a couple of decades. Policemen for a while. For the past 15 to 20 years, I provide Microsoft Excel solutions and training...when I have clients. Also, I am a dealer at casino parties...I deal Craps and Texas Hold'em; Blackjack when forced to. And, I often wear my black Bailey fedora with pewter rattlesnake pin...goes well with my monkey suit.

Better to shuffle cheese than shuffle electrons. You can't eat a balance sheet.

As for me, I still do what I did the last time this thread came up -- I manage a theatre, selling popcorn and distractions, fixing equipment and unstopping drains, and try to help teenage girls stay on the straight and narrow.

I also write about broadcasting history and do product development for a distributor of radio-program recordings, and write scripts incognito for a daily radio show heard on a national network.

Was in Bar harbour Maine years ago, well during 9/11 and went to an old theater. Can't remember the name but If you manage something as old and wonderful as that, then thanks. Loved that theater.
