Let's see as far as "things the board would appreciate", I got a early 1950's vintage bowtie, 1949 copy of Esquire's Handbook for Hosts, a 1940's turned mahogany floor lamp, two pair of cufflinks (one is old British pound coins, and the other is British shillings), and a gift certificate to one of my favorite vintage stores.
I got my girlfriend a gold brocade late 50's/early 60's wiggle dress; 1940's jade scarab bracelet, late 50's/early 60's rust red/greenish brown tweed jacket, 3 pairs of over-the-knee crocheted/knit socks/stockings, and a late 60's cotton plaid casual skirt.
The proselytizing continues. Yesterday, as a Christmas present, I gave my Dobbs Dayton to the pastor of the church I'm a member of. Looks good on him. I could tell his wife liked it too. Thats always the true test---if the women dig 'em!
There can only be a very few gifts that would warrant waking this thread up. My sister-in-law, Tina's older sister, has always had a comment when I wear the full evening dress. Secretly, she loves it, but her husband just couldn't be seen wearing a bow tie, let alone The Full Monty, so she jests about my appearance. My Christmas gift this year from my sister-in-law. I give you: Tuxedo underpants:
A Apple, a orange and some nuts in a smelly old sock haha just kidding that was last century, I got a nice custom designed rock artists shirt and cherry red Dr Martens
