After a few weeks of being dry - recovering from my stone - I was finally feeling well enough for a tipple. Due to reading a friend's recommendation, I tried GUBNA, an Imperial IPA from Oskar Blues. Not bad, but IPA's are not my main area of desire in beer.

I do remain a big fan of Oskar's other brews, especially Ten Fidy (stout), and Old Chub (Scottish Ale). They all come in cans, but don't let that fool you!

Attended an Australian International Beer Award ceremony, where we drank:
Heineken something or other. Not so good.
James Squire Amber Ale. Decent.
University of Ballarat Micro Brewery Lager. Very nice local lager.
University of Ballarat etc Dark Ale. Excellent.

Interesting piece of random information, in the latter half of the nineteenth century Ballarat (of goldfields fame) consumed more champagne than the rest of the world combined. Some of the local museums and hotels have the receipts and latters from Champagne Houses to prove it.
