What Did You Drink Last Night?

In anticipation of Cinco de Mayo on Friday I tried a new Tequila brought in for the occasion, Exotico Reposado. My impression is that it probably is a mid-range Tequila, & didn't jump to the top of my list. There is certainly better Tequila out there.

If the weather works (not looking too promising right now), my girlfriend and I always play late-afternoon hooky on Cinco de Mayo and go out for frozen margaritas (and guac, etc.) - straight Tequila is a bit too "hard" for me now, I prefer taking it diluted in a margarita. That said, I have friends who are into Tequila and have tasted some very interesting ones with them - a lot of new and thoughtful options have hit the market in the last decade or so.

Same thing has been happening to Mezcal more recently. Better grades of both Tequila & Mezcal are being aged now, making for a smoother & more enjoyable product. No need to hide it in citrus juice.

I do not enjoy tequila, but I will find a way to enjoy Cinco de Mayo.

Had a couple of Bohemias with a fine Mexican supper, then later, a few (more than I might've needed) tall PBRs while listening to Ron Gallo restore my faith in the future of rock & roll.

Owing to sun yesterday and rain today, the Fading Fasts moved their Cinco de Mayo celebration up a day so as to enjoy it outside with - as pictured below - a frozen margarita (or two :)), along with some chips, guac and shrimp-jalepano poppers. All in, a fun little party.

I greatly and painfully enjoyed this day with a potluck lunch at work. I ate as many homemade tacos, tamales, enchiladas, and servings of Mexican rice as I could stuff into me. It was great, but I struggled to make it through the rest of the day. I so longed for a nap. Currently, I am enjoying a nice ice chilled Dos Equis out back on the deck.

A hoppy Scottish Ale with a smooth malty back & a strong finish.
