I started the day with Shiner Bock, but those ran out a little after lunch, so I switched to bud light, because that's what there was, but then on into the afternoon that ran out and somebody gave me a blue moon white wheat ale. That stuff was so awful that I completely swore off drinking.

Until today. I had some Bohemia.

Not an easy day for the Fading Fasts yesterday, so we ordered in pizza last night and had it with a bottle of this:

Domaine Saint-Vincent Methode Champenoise Brut NV

A long and fancy name for a $12 bottle of a decent sparkling wine from New Mexico - not sweet at all, with hints of both fruits and minerals (a better palate than mine would be more specific).

All chased down by our dwindling supply of still-with-us Easter candy.

You can use any Pale Lager. Pour a Pilsner glass about half full with the Lager first then slowly top off the glass with a good Stout. You can use a pint beer glass but the Pilsner glass always works better for me & has a pleasing shape that adds to the contrast. If poured slowly they will not mix & the Stout will float on top of the Lager. Pour them in the wrong order & you end up with something that looks like dirty dishwater. It's a customary Irish drink of some significance. You get the best of both brews. They are nice to drink on occasion.

Some bars will call them a Half & Half.

From Wikipedia: Although associated with St. Patrick's Day in the US as one of its two ingredients is Guinness, do not order a Black and Tan in Ireland. Black and Tans is the nickname given to the British paramilitary force, largely made up of English WWI veterans, formed to suppress the Irish Independence movement in 1920 and 1921.
