I can never see the point in just having "one"......all that effort, and it's gone in a gulp! :beer:

As an aside, there appears to be far too much talk about things like coffee and hot drinks.....ye Gods! I did have to check that I was in the correct (alcoholic) thread!

Predictably, it was "French 75's", on Friday night, followed by the obligatory Tanqueray Ten & tonic on Saturday (whilst waiting for the bubbles to settle down, in the champagne & Chambord!).

Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention, the very nice 15 yr old Dalwhinnie single malt, on Sunday.... :)

I had trouble getting to sleep last night so I made my favorite bedtime cocktail, a milk punch. I found the recipe in a 1st edition of the Mr. Boston Bartender Guide (1935):

1 measure whiskey (2oz)
1 lump of granulated sugar (about 1/2 tablespoon)
Fill glass with milk (about 4oz)
Shake hard with cracked ice (until milk become frothy)
Strain into a old fashion glass
Top with grated nutmeg or cinomin (if desired)

You'll be ready foe dreamland pronto!

Apart from bourbon, which would be my usual choice (yes, I know you don't like it!), I tend to opt for an Islay malt, Laphroaig in particular. The Dalwhinnie is very pleasant, and quite spicy, and the taste lingers for some time.

I also have some Talisker, and Singleton Of Dufftown, although my preference will undoubtedly be the Talisker, being a more "peaty" Island malt.

Roll on the weekend! :)

If you like Talisker then you would like Lagavulin. That is likely peaty enough.;)
There is also the Peat Monster from Golden Compass if you REALLY want to get peaty. :D;)

Laphroaig Quarter Cask is peaty, very peaty. I'm surprised you can't serve it like a slice of cake! I've found that with mates around, it doesn't last too long though! The last time we were shovelling snow, is was a bottle in less than two hours, if I remember correctly! :eek:

I had a Laphroaig 10 year old a while back and noticed that it isn't as peaty as it once was. I think I mentioned it somewhere before but I read an article that said they make a fair amount of dough from selling their whisky to blenders and blenders are cutting back on the peat in their blends. Perhaps it is a reaction to that. Several other whisky aficionados mentioned that it isn't the same as well.
