Real Mccoy's NZ A2 authenticity

Hi folks!

I have recently acquired a supposed prototype Real Mccoy's New Zealand A2 jacket. The jacket appears to be on par, in terms of quality and construction, to my other RMNZ jackets, but looks different(color, zipper style) from the other RM A2s I've seen. The seller listed the jacket as "sample/prototype" in their listing. I am wondering if anyone here more familiarwith RMNZ jackets can tell me if this jacket is an authentic piece, or can provide more info on it.

- Shawn

It looks real; the details (Talon zipper, for example) are there. I’ve never seen a fake RMCZ.

Think about it from a supply standpoint, there’s not much money to be made to fake a RMCZ leather jacket. They want a well-known brand and the ability to produce in bulk (to make a lot of money).

Seconded. When it comes to more niche brands like the Real McCoy's (let alone the NZ days) there simply isn't enough demand to warrant a counterfit market.

Add that on top of the fact that a high-quality leather jacket is very hard to 'fake' in that it's quality will be rapidly apparent (compared to say, a perfume or sneakers) it just doesn't really make sense to counterfit.

I'm sure there are examples of fake Schott Perfectos or Saint Laurent moto jackets out there, but by and large I think 90% of the jackets discussed here on the lounge just aren't the kind of things that get faked.
