What Color Trousers with that Blazer?

So much fashion that comes out today is taken from those fashion plates... perverted to a nasty degree but, if one applies the technique and rules to dressing that are displayed in those pages, you'll never go wrong.

And you may never go wrong with those, but it's hardly like you can't do anything else. Nothing wrong with a little something new and creative, as long as it's done well. If you don't have an eye for it, guides like that are a great place to start, but once you have the eye for it, the only point to knowing the rules is knowing how to break them.

I think it means "You're milage may vary" (which makes me suspect Edward is a troper )

I tend to go for khaki, or (medium) grey flannels. Though that said, the former options (though usually with a tweed jacket) is pretty much my uniform in the summer

I think there are a couple other factors to consider. One is the actual material of the blazer. I have a double breasted cashmere blend navy blazer, that has a thick cashmerey look to it. It's obviously a warm jacket, and I think it looks best with gray slacks. But I also have a much lighter single breasted blazer that I think goes well with any of the lighter shades, khaki or stone. Also, the material and texture of the trousers should be considered.
The other factor is a person's natural coloring. The old winter, spring, fall, summer thing. I'm a winter, so I can wear a greater variety of colors. People with a yellowish cast to their complexion, for example, (and these categories can apply to any race or skin color), aka autumns, need to wear another palette of colors. So there's really no single best answer.
Also, don't you think the color of the shoes can enter into the equation? I've seen discussions here as to whether black or brown shoes were correct with a blue blazer. Or cordovan.
Anyhow, that's my 2 cents.

Yes however, I as under the impression that most of us here are interested in the fashion of that day.[huh]

Well, there are definite do's and don'ts when it comes to fashion. Most of those fashions are considered "timeless" in many regards. Always good to experiment but, always within reason.

I suggest typing full words is a much better way, no lazy short cuts. And I've never heard of "your mieage may vary"... Ah Nertz!
