Pipe smoker. Working on Aromatic English from The Briar Shoppe in Houston (shameless plug).
At this moment not a pipe, but a cigar... A Partagas Milles Fleurs.
I'm stuck on Illusione Epernay and Illusione candelas.
I've become real sensitive to bitter flavors in cigars, which pretty much rules out all Dominicans, and I really don't like heavy one-dimensional cigars with leathery wrappers.
I'm generally of strong cigars with shade wrappers and a couple I like are 601 and El Original from Island Smoke Shop in Key Largo.
Last night had dinner with Nick Perdomo and his son Nicholas and a group of fellow lucky devils. We shared cigars, a 16 year old port (very nice) and a truly wonderful 1986 sherry. It was a most pleasant evening.
your palate changes, your interests change, many cigars I used to love, I have completely lost interest in.Geez, if I noticed bitter flavors then I would be certainly to not buy those again.
Oh and last night was a Partagas Serie D No. 4 with a dram of The Dalmore Cigar Malt of course.
His Patriarch that I got through CRA was one of the best cigars I have had. He is producing some world class cigars.
Seriously? Is that you, James, or has someone hijacked your sign on?
I got a bundle of Patriach wrapper-flaw seconds, and munched through them.
Cigars International, which is a so-so outfit, IMO. I post on cigar weekly, and they have pretty good heads up there for deals. So I bought one bundle, realized that's exactly what they were, and they were gone when I went back. So I had 20 sticks. They were very good.
834 flippin' pages??? Holy Crap!!!
James, how's life, old bean?
Bulldog, I think I know you, from Bulverde Texas
So I got in a Cuenca y Blanco, a new brand, from the Joya de Nicaragua mob, named for Dr. Alejandro Martinez-Cuenca and José Blanco, who moved to JdN about a year or so ago. Full strength, but not overpowering, a good smoke, with a leathery character for the first half. Interestingly, it put out a nice, thick smoke, but only when I double-drew. First draw was always nothing, so a second draw in quick succession would do the trick. It's a touch pricey, about $10 for this robusto, not what I normally spend, at all.
