Looks like another good box!
From what I can gather (though the way the numbers ands letters are set up seems a little unorthodox), we are looking at a box from the Provincial Factory of Villa Clara, in the Santa Clara region, and made in January of 1999!

Thank you, you are so kind to do this research! I didnt see the set up of the letters and numbers myself, but called my mother so she could see it for me. Well I am glad that I was able to enjoy such a good cigar then. Hopefully my father will give me a few more if I ask him nicely.

A friend went back from a trip to London and he had a special gift for me... Por Larranaga Magnifico! This really is a fantastic smoke... Pretty hard to get here in the Netherlands because these are meant for the UK only (Exclusivo Reino Unido)...

Alec Bradley

This afternoon we sampled some Alec Bradley Tempus coronas. I had never seen the Alec Bradley cigars before and our friend showed up with quite a few options in his humidor. This was a very enoyable medium bodied cigar.

Have you tried any of these cigars? I'm definitely going to try out others in they line.

I have not had that line, but Alec Bradley does make a number of fine cigars (IMHO). I especially enjoyed the Maxx Nano, it was very tasty!

Saturday night we went to Island Girl Cigar and wine bar after I got off work. My wife had a Kuba Kuba and I had a CAO Brazilia Amazon. She finished up the smaller Kuba Kuba and stole the rest of my brazilia so I then had a Montecristo Platinum Vintage 1999. Great end to lousy extra duty work!

Heh I am writing a loooong review while I smoke this fella, I think I'll befinished within 10-15 minutes.

Review of the Bolivar Corona from 1995

Review of the Bolivar Corona from 1995 enjoyed with a very mild white russian and Julie London playing.

First few puffs was much stronger than the Punch Ninfa, the smoke more blueish, heavier and thicker. Immideatly strong notes of pepper and earth, but only when I drawed, when I released smoke and pushed the rest in, it was milder and a few other notes came out – still debating on what they are. First off, I thought this might be too strong for me but I continued on and is finding it better and better.

It pricks a little on the tip of my tongue but not in an unpleasent way, but it is definitly quite stronger than the Ninfa – but I prefer this gauge, and the lenght of the Ninfa.

It is definitly getting spicier now but I still can’t put my finger on it, maybe it is ’just’ more peppery and earthy than the Ninfa – I still can’t find other notes that I can actually name (note to self : do not try and smell to the smoke while I am exhailing it and still has a lot left in my mouth!! lol )

It is getting a tad more creamier now, still spicy and peppery but more soft.

I have to learn how to look good while I do this, because I have a feeling my face and cheeks looks very puffy and big when I hold the smoke in .. oh well, it will come later on.

Getting more and more creamier, still strong but not at all as much as in the beginning. The earthy note is getting more and more faint, the pepper is still most prominant.

I noticed that it takes a lot longer time to release the smoke, about 4-8 seconds to release 2/3 of it, is that because that it is ’heavier’? I am just gently letting it glide out slowly. Am I taking too much in?

About an inch from the band, less peppery now, earth is back? Oh dear, I am terrible at this tasting notes.

Phew, it is very strong now, very earthy, too much for my taste actually, but it is also almost smoked untill I can’t hold it any longer

The draw has been easy, didn’t take much effort.

Compared to the Ninfa, I definitly prefer the Ninfa, much milder and better for my taste, can I get you lovely gents to recommend similar cigars like the Ninfa? I really enjoyed that.

Women often have MORE taste buds than men, and as such often do have more sensitive palates. You may want to do some additional sniffer training to be able to identify some of the other nuances you are detecting.
Some people like to put togther a "smell kit" to re-acclimate themselves with aromas. Gather up some fresh roasted coffee beans, perhaps the nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove from the kitchen, some oats, a bit of wheat flour, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, maybe even some dried fruits; raisins, dates, figs, cherries, and put a bit of each either into small jars or little zip top baggies. Take a week and smell each sample once a day. It's amazing some of the parallels you will notice after this process!

Darhling, you're doing so well! We must have had the same thought. I was going to wait, but a cold, wet night called for the lighting of the Romeo Y Julieta tonight.


Same length, but a bit fatter (sorry, forget the technical term) than the Padron and a bit spicier (peppery, woody), but certainly enjoyable. Which is why I was so disgruntled with myself when I dropped it in the water halfway through.

Curiously, even though I wasn't smoking it overly slow, I had to relight it twice. Gents, is this normal?

Cigars do indeed go out when not tended to. You should try to take a puff every 45 secs to a minute or so. No hard and fast rules here, and I for one, do not want to smoke with a stopwatch! Not very enjoyable! Even rhythmic puffing will keep your cigar burning nicely. It's not the end of the world, but try to keep it lit, as the flavors are often degraded by relights.
Also, I am a proponent of touch up lights if a cigar is not burning straight, etc. You can use matches or even a bic lighter, but a butane torch lighter is really the best.
And since cigars will go out on their own, don't stub it out in an ashtray. Just set it down, and in just a moment or two it will be out.
