A charcoal hued Casentino wool cap accompanied me to the movie Wicked and to work.

Just enough snow yesterday to make the roads slick. Wool goodness was needed.

Well Dressed Head.

I like to wear this one un-snapped, it's a shame to hide that silver buckle.

This pic is an old one from earlier this year. One of my daughters said that the silver snap was distracting. She "TOLD" me to do something about it!

So I dabbed some flat black paint on the snap... and now she is happy.

Thanks, it's a nice design. Checked out their website and I think it's one of their Jackson models. Always love a nice flat cap for style, the ear flaps are great in the cold

Not exactly a new cap day, as I've had this for several months now, but here's a vintage 8/4 in lighter weight slubby brown tweed:

I cannot completely make out the liner tip but it appears to be the name of a shop in Mexico, though the byline says Made in USA. I haven't been able to pin down a date for the union label as it didn't change much from the 40s through the 80s. Later 40s tags had the printers "bug" slanted in the upper left, so I'm going to assume it's post 1940s.

If the price is in old Mexican pesos, the then exchange rate was roughly M$8.65 = $1 prior to 1954, and then fixed at M$12.50 = $1 for the next two decades. This would put the cost of the cap between $1.16 - $1.68, which would align with advertised cap prices in the 1950s. Purely hypothetical, but it's the best I've been able to come up with so far.

Regardless of the exact age, it's been a welcomed addition and has gotten lots of head time.

That’s sooo cool brother! Man, I’d love to get my hands on a cap like that. I’m always on the hunt for something similar. It’s a little harder to find in my extra large big size, 7 5/8 (61)

At least in my experience it's hard to find vintage caps in any size, but like hats the larger sizes are even more difficult to find. I think for the most part they were hard wearing, everyday items that were as close to being disposable as what exists in general today in our throwaway society. The few examples that have survived are usually damaged and/or moth eaten. I've only managed to find three caps in the 6-7 years since I've been collecting vintage headwear.
