The terrific part of commissioning a cap, as most of you know first hand, is the selection of fabric. I have been fortunate the spring and summer of 2020 to stumble upon the fabrics of Dashing Tweeds. https://www.dashingtweeds.co.uk/fabric/ .

I currently have 3 Dashing Tweed caps from Cordova Caps on my cap rack.

Their website speaks to "urban tweeds, "technical yarns," "new color combinations" as well as "new textures." Normally the words Urban tweed" would be a certain turn-off for me. This time it is different as I can see inspiration or fabrics that I easily see as the bold fabrics used in the 30-40's mens caps/clothing I see in the magazine advertisements. The recent thread, Esquires Complete Golden Era Illustration's -https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/esquire’s-complete-golden-age-illustrations.101480/ , showcases the advertisements in the Esquire Magazine that showcase the bold patterned/colors/textures/hues of fabrics used during this decade. Dashing Tweeds "Urban Tweed" is similar to what I see in the Esquire magazine ads of the 30's-40's.

Check out the many artisan cap makers and their fabric offerings. I can only imagine what your creative eye and the handy work of the cap artisans will be able to conjure up.

Cheers this Sunday afternoon folks. Be safe, be strong and see you on the streets soon, Eric -
I've been to the Dashing Tweeds website a few times, but have yet to order anything. Some real great fabrics there.

Our day trip up to Trillium Lake on the east side of Mt. Hood. Normally, you would see the highest peak of Mt. Hood right behind us, snow still on it, overlooking the lake. But a fire at Mt. Hood Meadows produced enough smoke to obscure the mountain today.

I wore the WDH indigo hemp cap and the Misses wore a parabuntal hat for shade. It was 74° at the lake, 92° here at home on our return.

What a terrific day trip! The cool and fresh weather I bet was a treat. Congrats on the day and the special cap. BTW: Your pic brings back my summer camp skiing memories on Mt.Hood for nearly a decade. You reside in a glorious part of the US.

Monsivais indigo cotton cream stripe today at my local beach. It was pretty quiet for a Holliday. View attachment 259420 View attachment 259421 View attachment 259422 View attachment 259423 View attachment 259424

Speaking of glorious parts of the US! Dang limited beach traffic is my cup of tea. Board shorts and a cap - the things dreams are made of. Damians cap has some great fabric. My caps may have some funky stitching, unlined materials, rough edges in general, but they are true workhorses of caps. A lot of wear to go in your cap Jonesy86. Cheers.

I’m enjoying this combination of leather and linen today with my Simonds Cap at my local beach.

Looking comfy and cool today. The combo caps are very eye attracting.

Morning temps of 39'f or 4'c have me wearing lots of wool. The hummingbirds are up early on the fogy and cool morning. They are prepping for the 1800 mile migration trip. Go little guys - be safe, be strong and see you next season.

Good afternoon cap folks. I would like to introduce a new cap today - Cordova X Star Cap.

The Dashing Tweed fabric is in a olive green and black wool. Faint red and gray threads really make the chevrons pop.

This cap has a five star pleated design on top. I like this more modest pleated design as it appears to my eye to be more subtle. It certainly has a "look at me" pleat, but I do not see a not a "I demand your look" design.

I instantly like the cap right out of the box. I wore it on a walkabout thru the neighborhoods. The medium weight wool is perfect for our 55'f(12'c) weather.

Thanks for taking a look at my new Cordova X-Star cap.

Amazing design and symmetry in the cap and the fabric itself. Cordova really brings out some great designs.... that are copied by others. Great job by Jonathan.
