Always top notch! I wish I could feel that thick wool. It looks so fuzzy-warm.

Thanks sir. It really is warm. The lining is thick and totally wind proof. 1st world problem to have caps for the varying temps and weather.

Although for tough effort in the cold I sometimes a cap with ear flaps. My collars do not stay up when I am really efforting and a cap with ear flaps is my choice. (I only have 1 flat cap with ear flaps and a Filson.) Not fashionable in the least, but totally practical. This morning I used a leaf blower for some yard clean-up. I started with ear flaps down and moved them up as I warmed up in my Filson Mackinaw cap.

New work cap. Super heavy weight red wool. My brother said it reminded him of a Soviet cap, a bit rustic and thick. Since that was exactly what I wanted I took it as a compliment.

Nice cap. The heavy cap looks appropriate with the seasonal sign in the background. Terrific color for the cool season.

The linen cap and leather jacket work. Who would have thought. The background full of tropical colored plants is a treat.

Best to all cap folks, Eric -

10 mile river hike today back under my wool work cap with cold north winds blowing.
Saw these two mature bald eagles and one flying juvenile. Cell phone pics do not do justice to them View attachment 383040 View attachment 383041

Grand adventure! Your hike sounds perfect for a Sunday. I like the work cap and I bet it was just the ticket in your weather.

This morning I filled bird feeders and checked the lake ice while wearing a Harris Tweed belt-backed cap.

Eric,
Is the belt-back cosmetic or functional? I just ask because I like the look, but feel like it would cause bunching if actually used.

Good call sir - the belt back could be used. As the cap was commissioned to fit exact, there is no functional use for the strap for me. I did choose it to be a visual feature. Looked cool.

When I envisioned the green tweed cap I wanted to avoid a "Holiday" cap. A larger unbroken expanse of tweed green might have been too far towards a "Holiday" cap. This Harris Tweed is more a brilliant green with black that leans toward the Holiday greens. The belt back gave it some eye appeal and aesthetics that were inspired by some 1920's belt backed cap pics and advertisements that I was admiring at the time. As a result I, IMO, have a cap that can be worn for much more of the year and catches your eye coming and going.

The belt back feature is a pricey feature as it takes a bunch of effort to produce. Lately when choosing eye appeal, I have been leaning towards the darts of folds in the rear of a cap. This to my eye gives the cap dimensions in the back. A heft.

My eye does not appreciate a cap that lies tight to the back skull. My opinion for sure. More "driving caps" are sold than the styles I enjoy. No contention here, just a preference. Visual entertainment such as darts, folds, patterns and belts are cool.

I have many caps with paterns and weave that I commissioned to be a plainer back. Just to feature the shape and material. It is my first world problem to be able to select between cap styles.

Best, Eric -

Winter has arrived in England this last few days, so it's all about my ELC B2 cap currently. I may, however, switch to a ushanka for December if it continues to be this cold.

Edward; I had to search up a pic of this cap -ELC B2 cap. Very cool looking. Appears very warm wearing. That must be a sweet pairing with a leather jacket . The Ushanka would be practical headgear when we in Minnesota, USA, get our 2 weeks of below 0'f (-18c) weather each year.

Edward do you see many caps other than the drivers cap style in your part of the world? I have not been to your island since the Olympics and did not pay attention to the attire of people other than athletes.

Cheers sir.

Do you folks have belt backed caps? Preferences to back of caps?

Eric -
I have only one belted cap, with a matching leather brim. Although recently, I have become very interested in the darts and pleated options available from bespoke cap makers. Among others, Cordova’s Rockton really catches my eye.
