New arrival in the mail today. Too crappy outside to wear for a maiden voyage though. Picked up from the Bay for next to nothing. Shandon tweed ivy cap. Just a little on the small side, but it should break in nicely.

Thanks Eric, yes, the yard took a major hit but much better now albeit with a few big scars.

Same Cordova Cap in Athens holding up to the wind at the top of this hill in the middle of the city. It is a bit chilly here with no beaches, but they do have some nice old buildings.

The cap looks lovely in the gorgeous backdrops in your pics. I am struck on how durable the cap appears in the pics and in reading of your escapades. I have a similar cap and I treat it with kid gloves. Super careful in handling, even to being careful with tugging it on. Thanks for the visual reminder it is just a cap to be worn.

Coals are started in the grill. Time to grill some breakfast. I tugged on one of my earliest Cordova caps. This cap fabric is still a fav and the cap is wearing well.

Yeah Eric, I did the same thing with this cap. I was very careful with it and only wore it on special occasions thinking that the straw would loose it’s shape. However I have discovered the opposite. I have really worn this hat hard and it is a bit more wrinkled, but still holding it’s shape.

Sussex Tweed Hartfield cap, to original 1930s pattern. Met the owner at Goodwood Revival in 2019 when they shared a stall with The Chap; turns out he was originally from the next village over back in the Old Country, and went to school with my cousin. Cracking quality. Fully made in their own factory, with the cloth woven in England to their specifications. Cloths used are all based on original patterns and weaves, with the occasional LE model made with a genuinely vintage cloth. Not cheap (I believe this model currently retails at £95), but the equal or better qualitatively of anything from Locks, and competitively priced alongside any of the other independents we favour in these parts.

To be clear, I have no connection or financial interest with the company, just a fan of their work!

This one also arrived at the office recently, sold by Lutece in Germany (via eBay), but per the label it's made by the New York Hat Co:

If you look up among the knick-knacks on the office shelf behind me, you'll also see my 'thinking cap'. I've startled a couple of colleagues and students who've wandered in to find me wearing that one!

Cheers, Edward. It is fun to see your caps. The Sussex Tweed cap has a dynamite fabric. The many hued caps do pair so well with a variety of clothing items in one's kit.

The Donegeal wool is eye catching, IMO.

This cap has a full size drape.

The wool is full of details.

The belt back makes the cap eye appealing coming and going.
