On monday i got my last three wisdom teeth removed so i haven't left my house since that surgery until today. But i figured i'd risk trying to eat, since it appeared my jaw was healing a little better and went to my favorite nearby restaurant. My face however, is bloated not unlike that of a chipmunk or John McCain and i haven't shaved in three days so ignore my disheveled mess of a face, its not as beautiful as it normally is.

I'm wearing this old beat up handed down grey suit my father got. Its too bit for me but it is very comfortable and i had it fitted as best as the tailors could, a pull over sweater, a black skinny tie, my black overcoat, cufflinks, scarf, and of course, the good old Fedora (the only decent one i've got). I didn't really pay attention to what i was putting on when i did save for the hat, but that's the list of things. hope i can compete with some of you folks.

Maguire, considering your oral surgery and the fact that you're living in a blizzard, I think you look pretty sharp. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

thank you both. maybe the swelling is down considerably today in comparison to the past few days, but when i look in the mirror it doesn't look this way.

The weather over here actually wasn't so bad today. everyone made it sound like we were going to experience the Arctic Tundra. Tomorrow on the other hand, i hear will be Siberian cold.

Just because I have a mean streak in me:rage: , let me tell you what the weather was like here today. Mid 60's, probably going to up the 70's by the weekend. People are in shorts jogging, walking dogs, playing Frisbee, etc. Of course, we'll have no water by the summer, but live for the moment, right?

I'm glad you're feeling better. Stay that way, and stay warm.

The jacket is the same as the last time I posted in this thread; the tie is vintage, perhaps 1950s judging by the width (very narrow) and the length of time that has elapsed since my girlfriend's grandfather (the previous owner of the tie) last wore a tie; the vest is from Target and slightly too large; and the shirt is a modern one probably not meant to be worn with a tie, since the collar is too large and not noticeably interfaced.

The hat is a wool Bailey I bought in Madison, Wisconsin, about eight years ago and before I was at all educated about fedora hats. I rebashed it with steam a few weeks ago, but fortunately I was careful enough that it didn't get too badly misshapen. It may be difficult to see in this picture, but the brim is doing its best to look like Indiana Jones's asymmetrical Raiders of the Lost Ark hat brim, and takes no heed when I inform it that the cause is hopeless for many reasons. I admire its perseverance, and mainly I let it be.

This is a hideous photograph, but here goes. I don't photograph well (just like so many other people...). They say the camera adds ten pounds, well eight of those go right on the face....Bad lighting, upward angle, all the excuses...

Anyway

Cold4.jpg

Top to bottom: Hannah cap, Johnson horsehide jacket, loden-greenish wool sweater, plaid shirt, black t shirt, wool Swiss army scarf, HIGH waisted 1963 vintage Swedish wool army pants (with wool/silk long johns underneath!), wool socks and work boots. Oh, today's high is 25 degrees.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think you look just fine--especially for 25-degree weather.:eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Your shirts are looking alot better these days Alan. They don't look as frumpy and washed out anymore. Your shirts were always your weak point (previously); always spoilt your outfits. Now they look good. Well done.

l'm curious: do you ever get your jackets tailored? They always look great; better than most people in RTW.

Frumpy and washed out? Goodness, that seems a bit harsh, don't you think? Personally, I have always found Alan's pics and appearance to be quite nicely done- he is truly an inspiration, I believe, in how to do it right.

Pants and coat from my dad's 1970s-80s unused wardrobe, shirt from Steve & Barry's, vest from Target, cap from a store in Eau Claire, WI somewhere. It's made of Pendleton wool according to the liner. No shoes at the moment, but they wouldn't be that special anyway.
