Nice jacket Anthony. A different choice to go with the striped trousers, but works well if you ask me. Very nice. Were you dressed for work or just for going out? I've never found proper occasion for striped trousers etc.

I think it's very nice. At times, I've worn grey striped pants in much the same way, in the style of the Stresemann or Stroller suit, although without any official occasion to wear one. I assume that most people do not have such opportunities, yet I don't think it should necessarily be restricted for semi-formal day wear. There's also a nice black homburg in my collection that goes with it.

Today for me, it's been dark blue jeans, a pale blue railroad striped shirt, a brown leather belt, tan hiking boots, and a mid-brown telescope crown western hat.

On the move again...
I have seen surplus peacoats advertised in 1940s catalogues, worn with a fedora much like this fellow.
I will try to find the image.

Edit: Here it is

My Dad had one of those in his younger years. It was the WW1 variant with the patch pockets. He sat the collar would flip up above your ears. Warmest jacket he ever had. Then in 1950, he was drafted into the army and his Dad sold it off while he was stationed over in Germany. Of all the dirty rotten...
Ever since he told me about that version of the Pea Coat I've wanted one. Sadly, in any wearable condition in my size they are rare and uber-expensive, unlike the above price. One can dream though. Marty, get the time machine!

Cheers!

Dan

Many thanks all; I was going to work but also meeting a colleague's wife and new baby for the first time, and going out for lunch with two old colleagues, so thought I might push the boat out a bit. Glad you approve!

The patching looks pretty cool on those Dinerman. Will you keep patching and wearing them long term or retire them?

Thanks DH66. They're the hawthorne mule skinner.

They're 1933 LVCs from three or so years ago. They've been falling apart and I've been patching them for the past two years.

Is that the famous Japanese selvedge denim, falling apart after just one year? Seems like some cheap no-name mall jeans would do better than that.

High end made in the USA Cone mills selvedge. Fastest I've ever had a pair get a hole in them, and since the floodgates opened, the disintegration has been aggressive. But after dropping money on them and having them fall apart the way they have, I stubbornly started patching. Then the patching got to the point where I was in so deep I can't give up.

Thanks Fading Fast. The sunglasses are just cheap Chinese ones from Amazon. They're nothing special for quality but I like the way they look.

Hello! I went out to see some old friends today, and figured it would be a good day to debut a new suit that I recently had altered. It's a recent suit, with nice wide lapels. The picture is crummy, but it's a pinstriped charcoal suit. I had some tapering done to mimic waist suppression. Paired it with one of my 40's ties. Your millage may vary, but I did receive a number of compliments.
