Excellent!
Puts me to mind of a no-nonsense small town sheriff in a 50s drive-in feature about trouble making hotrodders or giant irradiated insects, or both.
The moustache is looking nice and burly these days, it goes well with the Open Road style Stetson. Is that the one you got from LLBean?

Thanks. And yes, the hat is L.L. Bean's "Moose River" hat that I got a couple months back.

Big Man, I love it! Very well executed.

+1 on the mustache!

Thanks. I am retiring from active service with the Fire Department at the end of the year. I had a mustache when I joined the Department 35 years ago, so I thought it fitting I have one when I say good-by. Of course it was solid black way back then, now it's not even gray, it's white! :eeek: Like they say, "it's not the years, it's the miles."

Congrats on the retirement. I was a Paramedic with the Rescue Squad for several years. Still miss that line of work.
How about a pic form 35 years ago? :p

Not quite 35 years ago, but close. This is me (hard to believe, right?) cooking at a Fire Department BBQ sometime around 1984 or 1985.

Congratulations on 35 years and the best for a happy and healthy retirement. As you are still young, do you have any plans yet?

Thanks. I retired five years ago from my "paying job" as the Safety Director at a State psychiatric hospital. This retirement is from active service as the Assistant Chief at our local Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department. It's time now to be free to be a full-time granddad, and to get back to hitting the woods hiking and camping like I used to do before being somewhat tied down with the responsibility of being the Officer in Charge for fire and rescue operations. No more missed Christmases, Birthdays, and family gatherings. No more getting up in the middle of the night to run calls.

As long as Big Man is brave enough to post some before and after shots, here are a couple of me! First is a rather artsie photo from 1983. The second is 30 years later. Still look good, right? I actually have lost 40lbs since the last photo! Lets see some of the rest of you, you can all post, Can't you?

Sounds wonderful - enjoy. And you forgot to add with the extra time you can post more which is good for all of us as your posts are very enjoyable.

Thanks! For once in my life, I was ahead of the trend by two years. No, I don't have a Stearman anymore, I really liked his Gilmore color scheme!

Great combination Metatron. The red and green accessoires with the fair-isle sweater make it quite appropriate for this occasion.

I am sure I mentioned it before... but have you thought about a vintage (style) glasses-frame?

Somewhere I have shots of it, but they're from back when I got it, around April of 2008 and are buried in who-knows-what thread. I'll shoot some new pics of it for you, Alan- It's an interesting one.
