The weather was awful today. Luckily I was prepared for the weather - except that my cap kept flying off due to the extreme winds.

Great look but you were a brave man to wear a hat yesterday!

Don't usually post in this thread but today was a little nicer. Safari shirt from Cabela's, cuffed and pleated khakis and Stacy Adam's boots. The duty belt is the only thing keeping it from being a really fine day.

Taken by Nick Tucker as part of The Cad & The Dandy customer photo shoot I was in!
Out of season, I know, but the pics have just been released!

I like this photo. It's very casual and relaxed.

Going out for dinner tonight with relatives from overseas. Wearing this:

This is largely experimental. It's the first time I'm wearing the silver-grey tie with my light brown/green waistcoat. Not sure how well it goes together, but I'm willing to be brave. Nothing was achieved by wearing what everyone else wears.

Yes, I cut off my face. I did that dliberately as my hair was a mess when I took the photo.

Edward, the new hat looks grand!

It's the first day of Spring semester classes for me, and bitterly cold outside. So this is my outfit for the day: corduroys, warm fleece shirt, '60s (?) warm trench coat, and a fur Stefeno Oakland, which I just added a trumpet hat pin to.

Here I'm jamming away on a freshly cleaned harmonica after a morning class and meeting old friends and professors.

Hi Edward, if you had TOLD me that a Campdraft Deluxe would look formal, I would have laughed. Looks great with your top coat.

Mike

Thanks! It's outside of my usual choice range - my favourite contemporary production hat is by far the Akubra Fed - but I fancied something different this time and the bound brim and narrow ribbon appealed. I also ordered it the week after Christmas during one of the windiest festive periods I've ever experienced, so the wind trolley was definitely a feature in my mind (I wish they'd fit those to the Fed, that would be perfect). I think the secret to making it look more "formal" is all in the bash. I'm not a fan, myself, of obvious Western looks like the cattleman's crease and so on, so it was always going to be a fedora type bash for this one.

The coat is a firm favourite I bought almost by accident.... it's modern (probably made within the last ten years), and Spanish. I picked it up on eBay for, if memory serves, one Euro, plus a few pounds' postage. One of those things you bid on and forget about, then noone else does and it comes for buttons.... Absolutely perfect, totally as new. It's also *almost* a dead ringer for an original Forties piece I have somewhere. Very flattering cut.

Thanks! Yours looks great too. Harmonica is a fun instrument - I wish I had better command of it.

Fascinating story! I'm amazed at the luck of many people on the Lounge in digging up great finds. I'd guess with dedication and patience that luck will come to most all of us eventually.
