On Wednesday evening my wife and I went to a screening of the new restored Metropolis at the Leeds town hall as part of the Leeds Film Festival. Not having black tie attire, I wore my darkest suit and a dark bow. Not in the photo are gray spats, gray kid gloves, Dunn homburg, silver-tipped malacca cane, and a black '40s db overcoat. We were the only people dressed up as far as we saw.

The film was jaw dropping. It was, to put it mildly, an experience.

You both look splendid. How well I know the feeling of being the only one dressed for an event. Congratulations.

Not me, obviously, but my little sister in her first attempt at a vintage look, with Dior's New Look in mind.

LordBest, your sister looks wonderful, that dress looks like it was custom made for her, and I think it is really sweet that you want to show her off.

lol I think they make mine look like boats too! I think it's the trick of the camera that's making them look smaller on me ;)

An outfit that I didn't think would work but am very happy with.

Dark red 40's suit, chocolate brown bow hat, corde bag and brown leather 40's shoes, pink reverse carved lucite earrings and brooch, two cats and a grubby mirror.

I really need a cleaner and a dashing escort to take me photos!

Going off to the Melbourne Pen Show today. Wearing black trilby, black shirt and waistcoat, black, pinstriped trousers, navy blue socks, Double Albert watch-chain with watch and vest-pocket fountain pen, black formal leather shoes. I thought of wearing a tie as well, but it may be a bit warm for a tie today... If it was a bit colder, I'd wear my grey tie to go with the rest of the getup.

We got a mite spiffed up for the vintage clothing fair in Bath this afternoon. No men's clothes, but my wife got some absolutely lovely things, including a wild Saks Fifth Avenue festive skirt!

Mr Badger: Looking good. Both of you. Funny thing you wear an item that I try to find since I have seen screenshoits of boardwalk empire. That brown sweater vest /cardigan. I gotta have something like this too. With the winter I am developing a knit addiction.

Smuterella: I really like what you out together. The dark red is great. Can't offer my escort but my compliments. Two cats bring every getup to perfection.
