I just got this 60's plaid suit after sending it for alterations, so this is its première. My brown bowler seemed like the right choice of hat for it.

Great look, Torpedo (and yes, the brown bowler looks just right with it).
There were some amazing suit fabrics around in the 60's - very colourful when viewed close up, but nicely discreet from a bit further away. I love 'em.....

Pity that plaid doesn't work for me. I like the look but for some reason I just can't pull it off.

Kinda short on recent photos. Shame - today, and most of yesterday, I did the classic workwear thing - brown Aero FQHH 30s halfbelt, Stetson leather newsboy, Carhartt jeans, forties-style boots, checked shirts. Today's shirt was bought new in Next, of all places, yesterday - really nice old school lumberjack-style shirt.

Last night, I went to a Fifties rock'n'roll themed burlesque night, so I decided to dig out the Ted gear...

The drape really isn't very fifties at all; I wanted to wear my grey with black trim one, but I couldn't find the damn thing!

Yes, a very 70s drape indeed.

It's the animal print that really makes it 70s, imo (though I know the shawl collar - hard to find anything else affordably these days - is more a later thing than Fifties anyhow....). Still better than that damn Showaddywaddy rubbish, though..... Actually, this one was specifically bought for Rocky Horror events, being pretty much a dead ringer for the one Dicky O'Brien wore in the first season of The Crystal Maze. The other one - not lost entirely, but misplaced somewhere in my flat - is the same cut, but light grey body with black velvet trim. Still not a Fifties look, really, but closer. I'd love some proper Fifties look drapes, but for all the often I wear 'em, it's not financially practical....

Completely understandable. Good that you know your stuff...these days ppl call everything a "50s drape"... BTW, Jerry Lee Lewis wore one like that w/ Leopard print in the 50s. But, still, much more 70s. Yes, agreed, MUCH better than Showaddywaddy lol

Thanks everybody for the compliments! Indeed, the plaid looks a little daunting up close (for a complete suit specially, because other than pinstripe, patterns are not much seen nowadays, as far as trousers are concerned, out of casual wear), but it is much more subdued at some distance. It is a "made in Scotland" suit, BTW.

The ground colour is neutral enough and the plaid accents allow for variously coloured complements, so I don't think this will be the last you see of this suit...

MichaelCarter, I dig that herringbone jacket! Great for the winter!
Edward, gorgeous quartet. You are in enviable company... Your look tends a little to Austin Powers I would say, so one would think that to be the normal occurrence. It is fun!

As to your attire:

My favourite is the tie, but at the same time, maybe from a time scale perspective, it does not feel quite right compared to the rest of your attire, which does looks very natural.

Would you walk past me on the pavement, I would undoubtedly turn my head to get another glimpse.
