Thank for the comments. Here one finds plenty of great ensembles to take example of! :eusa_clap

Today:

Hat is a 30s Dobbs, in a very dark midnight blue, that my pics (taken with flash) do not really capture.

It is an excellent color for a hat to wear with grey suits. The bowtie has a very dark blue ground, intended to echo the hat's colour, and the pocket square is a light pink harmonizing with the bowtie's dark fuchsia/cerise pattern (...or so I believe ;) ).

Regards!

Thank you! :)

Yes, autumn...has defnitely come to stay here in Berlin. I'm under the impression that this year's summer happened exactly in those five minutes when I wasn't looking. ;)

I still need a nice brownish/tan hat with about the same proportions as that gray Mallory (my go-to hat). No luck yet...

Well, we always need another hat ;) but the grey fedora with the browns and reds below is smashing. Pops just right. Doesn't try too hard. A brown or tan hat would make that particular ensemble monotonous, in my opinion.

Agreed. A grey hat, unless markedly cool in shade, goes fine with earth colours, and looks better than an all-browns ensemble. I dig that ensemble of yours, Mario - a tasteful combo. :eusa_clap

I agree too, the grey hat looks smashing with the outfit, perhaps a brown hat would be too matchy-matchy, a bit try hard perhaps, whereas you have nailed that relaxed elegance thing perfectly with what you have on! :)

Nice outfit Mario. I'm very rarely a fan of bold look suits and less still brown suits (the only brown item of clothing I own is a leather jacket and a belt) but you pull it off nicely with the grey hat. Is the shirt vintage? When the weather gets colder a beige trenchcoat would perfectly compliment that outfit in my opinion.

Dressed to go to college this afternoon.

-Modern teal suit, converted from a 6x1 to a 4x1 button stance (using an immesely complicated procedure) to make it look less 80s and hopefully more 50s
-Vintage (possibly 60s) waistcoat
-Modern Polka dot silk tie
-Modern pocket watch on a vintage chain

Thank you all! :)

But - I still want a brown hat!!! ;)

I have a faible - and Torp already noted that about a year ago - for more subdued, earthy colors. And of course grays. I love grays. Gray is indeed very versatile and contrary to popular belief I don't think it's a sulky or depressing color.

No. The shirt is new. Bought off the 'Bay for 10€... :D
The buttons that come with the shirt are not so nice but that's rather easy to remedy. What I like about the shirt is of course the spearpoint collar. :)

Just wanted to add my voice to those of HPG and Torpedo (those guys are worth listening to, they know their stuff!!). Oh, and Miss Sofia too..... Anyway, a nice balance to the ensemble as posted, IMHO, and I agree that a tan or brown hat would be just a bit too coordinated :( .

The grey works just great!

Same outfit today, except today I am wearing a Brigade of Guards tie instead of the slate gray tie pictured, and a rose instead of the carnation pictured.

Nice poutfit Mario. Glad you like the shirt too. I am already thinking about buying some other colors. Like the light pink/ rose one with stripes...

Yeah the weather. It's getting real cold sometimes. I am glad I found this overcoat last winter. Seller said it's from sweden and 40s. I think it could be even earlier. The wais is pretty nice and the shoulders are not too padded.

I bought this sportscoat (or orphaned suit jacket...whatever) in berlin. It's the same as on the Boheme Sauvage picture with Mario. Do you think it could be 40s ..or already 50s?

My current obsession are knitted sweaters with dress shirt and tie. Together with flannel slacks this is a great college look in my opinion.
I don't have good pictures...this is from a party/meeting. I had to crop it because the other persons don't want to appear on the internet. I also bought a sleeveless cricket sweater at urban outfitters and a cheap shawl collar (burgundy) on a sale. No pictures yet...but I think it looks vintage-ish.
