that first tie in your last post (Superba Sugar and Spice line?) has to be one of the best ties I've ever seen. I'm in love.

I'm glad you like it. I think I bought it from David Owens vintage shop in New York. It cost more than I normally pay for a tie but I was on holiday and I'd just had a few very nice, cold beers. I know I shouldn't go shopping after drinking alcohol, but sometimes it just can't be helped.

Hyena, you really nail the look of the 30-40's in your clothes and surroundings!
You obviously pay a lot attention to details.

But it would be perfect with a typical period hair-cut... don't you agree?

@TT: I would've paid a little extra for a tie like that sober, so no worries! And yes indeed it is! I usually keep my type writer on it so it doesn't damage the desk...the desk is scratched enough as it is haha...this is what the desk is, unfortunately not in this condition: http://shard1.1stdibs.us.com/archivesE/upload/8866/1825/8866_1343196500_1_1.jpg

@Fastuni: Thank you kindly! I love the little details; for example, the switchplate covers in my "office" area are from the early 1930's, and a lot of the artwork in my space is original to the period too.

And yes, I desperately need a haircut right now. A lot of people IRL remind me on a daily basis - now that you've mentioned it here in cyberspace, I know I REALLY need one. :p I'm very lazy about being up-to-date with them. I usually let my hair grow wild before I finally say: OK, NOW I need a haircut. Soon I shall be getting one though!

Great look HBK. Micro-gingham is good for dress shirting. I find larger ginghams tend to overwhelm a tie. Dig the slanted breast pocket, and those lapels as well.

HBK, nice look. I find the combination of patterned tie and shirt a bit surprising, they seem dangerously similar in colour and pattern scale.
I noted the same 'borderline-clashing but surprisingly works ' effect in the last photo you posted.
Is this what they call 'going meta' ? :p

thanks gents.

Is this what they call 'going meta' ? :p

if i knew what 'going meta' meant it might be.
i think by combining a contrast collar on a gingham shirt i've created the least popular Luxire shirt (for the Fedora Lounge audience) ever. :eusa_clap
i have some more shirts planned to wear specifically with this suit. same collar shape, but muted. once i've made them i'll try to get more shots of the whole suit.

It means going to the next level, usually to ever more obscure artistic depths.

no, that's not really me then. i've never been a believer in obscurity for the sake of it.
if anything, i've found that we (artistic natured types) tend to start out trying to push the envelope, only to later discover how conservative our taste actually is.
