Thanks gents: Both the pink and red ties were from New York (David Owens Vintage Store). They were more than I usually pay for ties, but I'd been out for a drink. I just couldn't resist them.

Understandable.
A lot of the high end mens stores will offer a drink (wine, beer, scotch) after you've picked out a few items in an effort to keep you shopping. Once, just once, I fell for that trick. Very expensive drinks......

I seem to recall an episode of Frasier where he was offered wine from the "loire valley" (Which is a perfectly respectable place) and he purchased a counterfeit piece of art. When he found out, it was too late.

The best part of that episode is when he phones the police asking for the , "fine arts counterfeiting division".

That said, I have never been offered a drink at any mens store I've been to, but I have never been to Toronto, NYC or San Fransisco.

Jeez, they could try a little personality; looks like the lobby of a mid priced 1990's hotel.
Maybe they didn't want customers to get too comfortable lest they forget why they're there; To shop!

Personally, I think that any liquor served in a shopping enviorment should come with the warning: Consumption of this product can be hazardous to your pocketbook.
