Bob Luman -- Cleanin' Up The Streets Of Memphis (1970)

Well I caught me a train and I went down to Memphis
There was a railroad bull a waitin' in the yard for me
He asked me where I'm from and I said Texas
And he said now you're a guest of Tennessee

So he loaded me up and they took me down to the station
And he told that judge to throw the book at me
After thirty long days of cleanin' up the streets in Memphis
That judge has made a Texan out of me

So when I get out I'm going back to Texas
And I don't want to be no part of Tennessee
After thirty long days of cleanin' up the streets in Memphis
That judge has made a Texan out of me

Well I rode freight trains from Texas to California
And I never had nothing like this to happen before
After thirty long days of cleanin' up the streets in Memphis
I ain't never going back to Memphis anymore

So when I get out I'm going back to Texas
I don't want to be no part of Tennessee
After thirty long days of cleanin' up the streets in Memphis
That judge has made a Texan out of me

Can someone help me ID a song? I heard it about 15 mins ago and it's been rattling around my head ever since. I was driving with my iPod streaming Dismuke so couldn't see the song title.....it was a song by someone deliberately trying to sound French, and had the lyrics "Would you treat her like a sister? Oh, no, no, be honest mister.............That's what I did too"

Anyone know this song?

Thanks

You don't have to tell me, but thankfully, the Barn Show has a pretty healthy following around here.

I get depressed when I think of the culture we're losing on a daily basis, especially in local radio and on shortwave. Never ceases to amaze me that people would seemingly rather watch the Kardashians, than a good radio play that makes you think and imagine the scene for yourself.

It really is sad. I love our local culture (what's left of it) and embrace it fully.

Carmol Taylor -- Good Cheatin' Songs (1977)

Last Saturday night I was dressed up right
And I headed for the honky tonk lights
When I got there I could see the women stare
They knew the Lady Killer's prowling tonight

With a drink in my hand, I was making plans
When I saw her at a table alone
She had coal black hair, she was Heaven sitting there
And I said tonight I'm taking her home

She didn't seem to care when I said 'Hello there,'
And 'what's an angel doing in here?'
'Did you come from above? Do you need a little love?'
'Say the word and I'll take you from here.'

I used every line I knew and I made up one or two
But then she turned and shook her pretty head
I said, 'Don't be uptight. Baby, what do you like?'
And then she looked at me and said:

I love those good cheatin' songs
That tell about my life
I love those sad country songs
About some man losing his wife

And it's that beer-drinkin', heart-breakin'
Honky-tonkin' I like
It's those good cheatin' songs
That make me feel all right.
