I said the night you left me
Nothin' worse could ever happen
But seeing you with someone else proved that I was wrong
And when your eyes met mine
I knew that you were gone forever
Along with all the reasons, I had for hanging on
I'd be better off in a pine box
On a slow train back to Georgia
Or in the grey walls of a prison doing time
I think I'd rather die
And go to hell and face the devil
Than to lie here with you and him together on my mind
I always thought that someday
We might get back together
I just thought you needed time to spread your wings and fly
But when I saw the lovin' way
You held onto each other
It was all that I could do, not to break right down and cry
I'd be better off in a pine box
On a slow train back to Georgia
Or in the grey walls of a prison doing time
I think I'd rather die
And go to hell and face the devil
Than to lie here with you and him together on my mind
Girl I'd be better off in a pine box
On a slow train back from Georgia
Or in the grey walls of a prison doing time
I think I'd rather die
And go to hell and face the devil
Than to lie here with you and him together on my mind
I can't lie here with you and him together on my mind
Maybe you don’t know me any more than I know you
And I wouldn’t blame you if you walked away
I’ve been watching you all evening with those teardrops in your eyes
And it touches me much more than I can say
You know I hate to think that someone could have hurt someone like you
And if I was him I’d be right by your side
Lay your troubles on my shoulder
Put your worries in my pocket
Rest your love on me a while
Lay your troubles on my shoulder
Put your worries in my pocket
Rest your love on me a while
Saw you in the corner from the moment I walked in
Saw your lonely face across the room
No I won't forget you and the way it could have been
Why’d you have to leave so soon
You know I hate to think there’s someone you loved instead of me
‘Cause at times like this I’d be right by your side
Lay your troubles on my shoulder
Put your worries in my pocket
Rest your love! on me a while
Lay your troubles on my shoulder
Put your worries in my pocket
Rest your love on me a while
I am sleepwalking in the early 1960s.... that's where I am and where I belong ...I am also "A Summer Place" and "Telstar" all from the very early 1960s.
Just discovered the band Nutty, who do amazing hybrids of pop and lounge. Well, actually, lounge dominates as they perform their version of Don't Fear the Reaper, Cinnamon Girl, Frankenmunster (the Edgar Winter song stitched onto Munsters theme), et al. Exceptional arrangements and musicianship.
Lyrics I've got this big rig rolling down Highway One
Heading south from the northern Queensland sun
I've got a woman playing on my mind
I'm in a mess and there's just my time
To think about things and the way it might have been
The white line casts its deadly spell on me
I need some strong black coffee and a bite to eat
Been on the road since late last week
I really need a good night's sleep
Maybe I'll begin to understand
Slipping under the spell of the highway
Feeling I am going to go under
I feel like a man who's on the run
Slipping under the spell of the highway
My heart is beating like thunder
Slipping under the spell of Highway One
Been pushing this old rig more than I should
I'd give the game away if only I could
I've got king-sized overdraft
And a woman who holds me from the past
And I'm beginning to wonder if its all worthwhile
Gotta get this load in right on time
I can't afford to lose this contract of mine
I'm praying this old rig will last
I'm losing concentration fast
And If tomorrow ever comes it won't be too late
Slipping under the spell of the highway
Feeling I am going to go under
I feel like a man who's on the run
Slipping under the spell of the highway
My heart is beating like thunder
Slipping under the spell of Highway One
This is KVCB and the The Vickster spinning platters on a Saturday nite. Got a request for Dion and the Belmonts from Steve, Paul and Gene working the night shift and making the dough down at Anderson's Bakery...
