This is wonderful! For a while I was really addicted about this simphony; got 5 or 6 different versions!!! (my preferred is by Pierre Monteux).

They might have been the straightest down-the-middle of all the swing bands. Nicely crisp and polished and never an extra note or gimmick in the arranging - Larry was known for his economy. I especially like his use of the clarinet section. And of course few bands had a singer as well-matched to them as Bea Wain. She was musicianly and sounded like a real person, not a fake personality.I'm in a Larry Clinton mood today... Impossible not to be a huge fan of this orch!
